Get the free program Belarc and run it, print the results. It will tell you what drivers you need. It is best to get the drivers onto a thumb drive before you reformat.

You can also go to the Dell site, support, plug in your service tag and you can download the drivers from Dell. Now when you reload XP you will have the needed drivers. Often, especially with Dell, when you reload, you cannot connect to the Internet until the correct driver is installed.

Dell dimension wont boot after power outage and stops half way through the boot page

Hello,

The problem is with the corrupted boot files .In my opinion you have one solution
Steps for solution

1. Download an operating system called ' Linux mint ' which can be installed in the pen drive having minimum 4 gb capacity . Using this operating system you can access the computer .

2. Copy the file and folders to an external storage device (external hard disk, pen drive etc..)

3. Reinstall the operating system ( XP,Vista ,Window 7,Ubuntu etc )

Hope you be successful

I dont have the dell opertating system driver disk how can i get a new one

The usual means of installing the operating system on a new hard drive is by using the Dell Windows XP reinstallation CD (or whichever operating system you had ebfore). If you do not have one, the only chance of getting one is by contacting Dell Tech Support for your region. It may not be free, but if you never received the CD due to Dell's media reduction initiative (and tell this to the representative) they may send you one.

Restore to factory specs optiplex sx260

The Optiplex series of systems have no restore partition to re-image the system. If you want to have a clean start, you will need to do a clean install of Windows, load the drivers and applications.
Drivers can be downloaded from Support.dell.com but you will need the media for Windows and any applications.
