I would take a look at the door switch, its a push button on the top of the door opening. The spring might have went, causing the switch to stay closed, hence it staying running

Replaced thermal fuse in kitchenaid keys777 eqo dryer if started working then it has blown another thermal fuse .had a spare fuse .what could cause fuses to fail, thanks

There is a high limit and low limit switch also in the circuit. If either of these fail, it can blow the fuse. Also, if your heating element is shorting to ground, it will blow the thermal fuse. It is standard practice to replace the high and low limit switches with the thermal fuse.

Maytag Neptune Dryer Model #MDE4000AYW Our heating element does not heat up. I have continuity through both the heating element, the thermal fuse and the high limit switch. What troubleshooting tests...

It is dangerous to do but you have to turn dryer on while it is apart and wait for limit to open up, then test. !st make sure all connections are ok. The clips and the nuts all need to be tight. If any look dark or burnt that may be your weak link. If you are sure that everything is else is working ok, a set of high limit switches is not very expensive. The voltage is 220 so if your careful you can test at each junction, but be careful..

DRYER STOPPED RUNNING. ALL CONTROLS WORK, BUT WON'T START. HIGH LIMIT SWITCH GONE?

It's either of the thermal fuse on the blower housing or the thermal fuse on the heater enclosure is blown. These thermal fuses are wired in series with the motor and therefore, if any of them is blown will cause the motor not to run and hence the dryer not to work except the controls.

Disconnect power to the dryer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Open the dryer door and remove the four screws located vertically along the inside lip of the door opening. These screws hold the front panel to the front shroud assembly.

Once the four screws are removed, grasp and press in on the upper edges of the front panel posts then twist it inward to release the clips holding it to the cabinet. Tilt the top of the front panel and move it away from the dryer.

Bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing by disconnecting the wires and taping them together or connecting a jumper wire between them. Close the door then plug and start the dryer.

The dryer should start and heat up if the blower housing thermal fuse is the culprit. Otherwise, the other thermal fuse on the heater enclosure is blown. Unplug the dryer then bypass the thermal fuse on the heater enclosure in the same way the first is bypassed to confirm it.

Plug the dryer back then restart it. The dryer should start to confirm that the heater enclosure thermal fuse is blown. Replace the thermal fuse (part number 307473) together with the high-limit thermostat (part number 303396).

Unplug the dryer and unbypass the blower housing thermal fuse then plug it back and restart it. If the dryer fails to restart, replace also the blower housing thermal fuse (part number 33001762) together with the cycling thermostat.

Reinstall the front panel in reverse steps of the removal steps to complete the repair.

My Maytag Performa (PYE2300AYL) dryer quit running in middle of load. It has been working fine for 7 yrs. I checked all obvious reasons (power supply, breaker, etc.) and then replaced the high limit...

the first thing to try wold be the thermal fuse.  you can check with an ohm meter and you will probably find it open up.  replacing is an easy one by please UNPLUG the machine first.

My Maytag Performa PYG2300AWW dryer quit working today. 1st we noticed it wasn't dying clothes, then there was a smell. We thought the lint was clogging it up, so we vacuumed everything out. Now it won't...

This could be the thermal fuse or Hi Limit thermostat possibly a few other components. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that will walk you thru the troubleshooting procedure. It's a different model but testing and components are the same.

i had the same problem with my dryer and i installed the wrong thermal fuse for gas dryer which calls for a pink thermal fuse in which i installed and it works fine also check the lint in the front of your dryer. also my dryer which is the same make as yours seems will run on the fluff cycle until i replaced the right thermal fuse. my dryer run exceptionally hot and eventally shut down and it only run on the fluff cycle for any length of time.

My dryer used to shut off before the clothes are dry - now it wont start at all

Ok, the light will not come on if the door pressure swicth is damaged and, the dryer will not start if this switch is damaged as well. replace the door pressure switch asap.

Ok, concerning the interuppted drying cycle due to high heat, this can be cuased by two issue. It coudl be a venalation issue. if the dryers vent duct and exuast hoses are clogged, thsi will cuased the element to reach unsafe tempreturs, in return, tripping the high limit thermostsat and shutting the dryer off in the middle of the load cycle.

Another problme spot woul dbe a fualty high limit thermaostae. Although this is highly unlikey, this coudl be your issue.

Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.
