My Sylvania lc320ss8 shuts of by itself after being turned on for 1 minute or two, I have tried unplugging for 30 minutes as suggested by the owners manual but still shuts off, please help

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

My acer al1511 monitor started shutting down after 2 or 3 minutes, the green power led turns orange(like no signal). if i turn the monitor power button off and back on the monitor works for 30 sec to 1...

Here are the service manual (not usre which model you have, downloads are limit to two per day):
http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=acer&megnev2=al1511&kategoria=&kat2=all
You need to do some voltage checking make sure you do have 5 and 12v. The caps the secondary DC side should all be replaced at the same time, it may look OK but they can have high ESR, and they also should be low ESR type such as FM or FC series by PANASONIC. Screen goes black after 30 mins of working.

There are a few things you need to check here.
1. It could be that your computer power management is set to turn your monitor and harddrive off after 30 to 45 min.

If the computer is however working for 30 to 45 min while you doing stuff and it shuts off, the there is an internal problem "Hardware"

I would suggest you check to see if the power management is set to turn off monitor 30 min and harddrive after 45 min. IF that is not so, then we go on to the next test.

It could possibly be your processor fan is not working so once your processor gets over heated it shuts off the computer.

Turn off the computer, remove the case "this is only if you know what you are doing" with the case off, power on the computer and see if the processor fan is working.

You can get back to me and I can walk you through it.

Hope thiss help.

Laptop screen goes white

Hi there Try to connect it to an external monitor and see how it goes. If the problem stays, that mean your video chip is probably defective. bad news since it's integrated in the main board. Replacement of this is costly. Unless it's still under waranty of course. If not, that means your inverter is probably defective and needs to be replaced.

KDS Computer Monitor loses video one half hour after booting up.

first, how long have you had it. if it has intergrated power supply,(does not have a big square box made onto the power cord) nine time out of ten your power converter/supply is going or is bad. return for a replacement. to the manufactuer not the store. they should replace it free of charge, if their honest. samsung has some models with this same problem.

Monitor goes blank after about 30 minutes. Then you can shut it off and turn it back on and it will work for another 30 minutes or so. What could cause this?

check your power settings (run>control>power options>change plan settings>advanced options>display)
you will see the setting for your monitor to power off
it should be set to 2 hrs or more if you plan on watching a movie or keeping the monitor on without having to frequently touch the keyboard or mouse.
turning adaptive display on may affect your situation as well. try switching it on.

This should do the trick for you. If not you may have an issue with either your video card or your monitors power supply.
(if the light stays on on the monitor when it goes blank but it doesnt repsond to the mouse or the keyboard, its a setting on your system or the hardware itself)
Good Luck!!

Welcome to FixYa! The default power saving feature is turning the monitor off. To change the settings go to the Desktop>Right click on it>Properties>Settings and you will see power saving settings where you can choose "Never turn off" or a longer time interval. These settings can also be found in your Control Panel for all of the Power Saving features for the computer, monitor and hard drive. Steve
