Question about Barbeques Galore Turbo Sport Portable Infrared Stainless Steel 286609 Grill

2 Answers

My turbo sport infrared grill lights but will not heat the ceramic burner. It heats the inlet tube feeding the burner only. It makes noise while doing this. I have removed the ceramic tiles to look for an obstruction and blown with compressed air. I can't see into the enclosure very well but see all surfaces clean. No change. I have replaced the regulator with the same results.

My turbo sport infrared 92866090 grill lights but will not heat the ceramic burner. It heats the inlet tube feeding the burner only. Actually discoloring the stainless finish of the inlet tube. It also makes a hissing noise while doing this. I carefully removed the 2 ceramic tiles of the burner to look for an obstruction and have blown into the inlet with compressed air. I can't see into the enclosure very well but see all surfaces clean. No change. I have replaced the regulator with the same results.

It has a blockage somewhere inside but with dismantling it its difficult to say ,i would think that a wasp has built a nest in one of the jets where it makes a mud stopper and puts a spider inside paralised with its egg on the spider ,happens a lot here ,try poking it through with wire coathanger and see what happens as i have given up with my gas barby and gone back to wood burner ,and an old fridge metal gridding and a piece of flat 1/8 steel plate .

Good guess. It's pretty obvious there is something in there. I know how the wasp does it's thing. I doubt that is the case. I store the unit in the garage in it's provided bag. I would have bailed long ago but this puppy sears meat like nothing else.

There is no model number. It is the exact model as shown on the Fixya site. The operators manual says... Turbo Sport - Portable Infrared Grill by Barbecues Galore

  • greydog583 Aug 04, 2010

Does 286689 help? That is what is shown on the Fixya site associated with this BBQ.

Grill starts then turns off

Need more information because if you have an appliance with some kind of safety valve using an electric sensor or thermocouple there are a few ways to test the problem in order to determine where the actual failure is happening.
With normal residential barbecue grill models I hear this complaint usually with infrared models. If an infrared burner ignites and then blows itself out this indicates the ceramic tiles at the top of the housing are cracked. Over time this will grow worse and can pop or even throw-out flame which can make it scary since infrared burners are so effective because they pressurize the gas for maximum heat.

Have a home depot ducane 5 burner. just replaced burner tubes. have never used the rotisserie burner on it before. it lights but won't stay lite after releasing knob...any suggestions? Thanks

Infrared burners requite that the gas control knob be held in for 2 minutes or so, to allow the thermocouple on the infrared burner to heat up completely. If it's windy were you are, the wind can blow the burner out, while trying to light it. That's why it has a thermocouple on it, to stop the gas if the burner goes out. All cooking on the rotisserie is doon with the lid/hood closed, at temperatures around 250 degrees F. Once the infrared burner turns bright red, release the control knob.

Hope this helped you to get it lit. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a stainless steel Ducane BBQ with five burners plus side burner and a rottisserie burner , which does not work. It is approx 5 years old and I have never used the rottisserie till last week. I have...

Since you've never used it. It may simply be a case that the infrared rotisserie burner is dirty and clogged with grease from cooking on the main burners. In addition, the Thermocouple and the igniter for that burner may also have a grease build up. In which case it won't allow the burner to light.

The electronic igniter that lights the main burners, also ignites the the rotisserie burner. Are you geting the click noise on the main burner igniters? If not, the battery in the igniter button needs to be replaced. Be sure to take note of the way the old battery is facing, when you unscrew the igniter cap. Because, that's the way the new battery should face.

Also, try match lighting the rotisserie burner. To do this, turn the Rotisserie Burner's Control Knob to the ON position and push it in, as you touch the lit match to the burner. If the burner lights continue to hold the burner knob in for a couple of minutes. This allows the Thermocouple and the ceramic plaques to heat up completely. Then slowly release the burner knob and the burner should remain lit.

If it doesn't stay lit, clean the burner and the Thermocouple ,in the manner that is described in your Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

My 1100lp when burners are on low flame is to low and make squeeking noise and if a slight bit of wind will blow out flame. I cleaned burner tubes and replaced regulator with factory parts will heat up on...

turn off the LP Tank, disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the hose and turn the tanl valve on very, very slowly, until it's fully open. Light each burner and turn it to high. Wait for the burners to heat up and turn them down gradually to low. If flame height on low has returned to normal, the problem is solved.

If that didn't solve the problem, the air shutters on each burner may need adjusting. Consult the installation instructions that came with the new burners for the proper setting or consult your Owners Manual.

If it's real real cold outside, it's not unusual for the burners set on low to have a problem. The only solution to that is let the grill preheat well, before turning the burners down. Also, grill with the hood closed on low, if it's a windy day.

Hope this helps you and gets you back to grilling again.

We have a barbeques galore turbo stainless stell 3 burner grill, We can't get it to heat evenly and now it barely heats at all.

Hi,
Either the burners are dirty and the holes for the gas to come out are plugged or the gas pressure regulator is bad.
Check the burners and make sure they are clean and if they are then check the regulator.

Gas burners heat unevenly

I had a similar problem. I took off the burner heat deflectors and seen gaping holes in the burner tubes. Get your model number and serial number and call Weber. Most Ducane grills have a 5 year warranty on the burner tubes. They will ship them free if under warranty!

Expensive TEC Grill Problem with Blowout After Ignition

HI nabber8391,
I have a TEC Pattio II. I have owned the grill for almost 10 years and TEC grills have a ten year warranty on many of the parts including the burners. The burners on my grill have a ceramic inserts. The pop and loud whooshing noises indicate the ceramic insert or the seal on the burner is "cracked". I have replaced both of the inserts and burners on my grill once about 5 years ago under warranty. I have one burner now that will not stay burning and I contacted TEC today regarding the problem, and I will replace the ceramic insert only under warranty. .

The newest TEC grills like yours have the TEC Radiant Glass Infra-red Cooking System with stainless steel burners with glass surfaces. I assumed this burner system had eliminated the problem of the burners going out with a loud boom.

YOUR ONLY OPTION IS TO CONTACT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE GROUP AT TEC. THE TELEPHONE NUMBER IS 1-800-331-0097. TEC IS LOCATED IN COLUMBIA SC. TEC HAS A USEFUL WEBSITE.

By the way, I paid $1400 for my TEC grill in 1999, but I believe the new TEC grills are better. I know I would not buy any other brand. One other thought, it is imperative that cleaning instructions are followed.

Tec grill problem

Hello,

If mositure gets into the ceramic burners, then yes it is time for new ones. Was your grill also converted over to accept the new gas? Or another thing it could be that spiders are clogging the burner orifice.. If you contact a local dealer on Tec gas grills or someone that can service gas grills. Might be able to help you.
