How to tighten alternator belt on 1993 pathfinder


Four cylinder engine - loosen bottom pivot bolt on alternator, then loosen top bolt and pull the alternator away from the engine to tighten belt. When at proper tension, tighten top bolt to hold tension and tighten bottom pivot bolt.
Six cylinder engine - loosen the lock bolt at the bottom of the alternator, then use the adjustment bolt (perpendicular to the lock bolt) to tighten the belt tension. Once properly tensioned, tighten the lock bolt.

Clutch not working?


About halfway down the clutch cable is an adjustment, covered by an accordian boot.

Slide the boot up out of the way, and at the adjuster, loosen the lock nut, and shorten the adjuster as short as possible.

Go back to the clutch pressure plate you seen under the primary cover.
In the center is an allen head screw with a lock nut around it.

Loosen the lock nut, and turn the allen head out about 1/2 - 3/4 turn.

Slowly turn it back in until you just feel it touch something. This is the adjustment screw touching the pushrod that moves the pressure plate out, to allow the clutch to release. Make sure the lock nut is unscrewed enough that it is not hitting the plate, causing the adjustment screw to feel like it stopped.

Again, with the adjustment screw JUST lightly touching, unscrew it 1/2 to 1 full turn.
Hole the screw from turning while you tighten the lock nut (about 20 ft/lbs torque, slightly more than spark plugs).

Now, go back to the cable adjuster, and unscrew it so the adjuster lengthens.
You want to adjust it so there is just a little free play at the clutch lever.
At the clutch lever, pull the cable away from it just enough to remove any free play. You're NOT trying to pull the cable off! LIGHTLY pull just to remove slack!

Proper adjustment is when the gap created by the above (between cable end and clutch lever cable holder/mount) is 1/16" - 1/8", go back and tighten cable adjustment lock nut, while holding the adjuster from turning.
3 wrenches help, 2 in one hand to hold the two adjuster hexes, and a 3rd one to tighten the lock nut.

Pull the clutch lever 3-5 times to insure the clutch release ramp balls are seated, and recheck the cable gap at the clutch lever.

If this doesn't work, the clutch plates probably got "welded" together (not literally, but a term used to indicate they are stuck together).

Then you'll have to tear the clutch pack apart to free up/inspect the plates.
A special clutch diaphram spring tool is needed for this.

    • 1 Take the motorcycle for at least a fifteen minute test drive. Use this time to determine if the clutch needs to "grab" more or less. For example, if you pull in the clutch lever and it is difficult to shift, it grabs too much. On the other hand, if when you let the clutch lever out the motorcycle is low on power, it is not grabbing enough.
    • 2 Set the motorcycle on its kickstand or, if like some dirt bikes, it does not have one, prop it against a solid object so that it will not fall over while being worked on.
    • 3 Loosen the clutch cable if the clutch needs to "grab" more, via the clutch cable adjuster bolts near the crankcase, until there is a small amount of play in the cable. You should be able to move the clutch lever just slightly with no change in the clutch's actuation.
    • 4 Tighten the clutch cable if you need the clutch to "grab" less. Tighten the cable until there is only a small amount of play left in the cable. Pulling the lever from now on will make a much larger difference in clutch actuation.
    • 5 Tighten the clutch cable adjusters near the crank case and take the motorcycle for a test ride in an open, private area. While riding, use your left hand to adjust the barrel adjuster where the cable housing meets the clutch lever to fine tune the adjustments made previously. When you feel the clutch is set up properly, return to your work area and tighten the barrel adjuster stop so that it will not loosen as you ride.

How to adjust the clutch of 2006 harley davidson dyna lowrider


Find the clutch cable adjuster in clutch cable. It's usually somewhere around the cradle downtubes of the frame in front of the engine. Slide the rubber bellows looking cover either up or down to expose the cable adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster barrel inwards to get as much slack in the cable as possible. Then, stand the bike as straight up as you safely can. Put a block of wood under the kick stand but make sure the bike won't fall over. Take the derby cover off the primary cover. You'll see the clutch adjuster screw in the center of the clutch assembly. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster screw inwards until you feel a resistance. Do not force the screw or you will damage your inner clutch hub. Back the screw back out and turn it in several times to get the feel of it if you have to. Once you turn the screw inwards until you feel the resistance, turn the screw back outwards 1/2 turn and tighten the lock nut while holding the screw steady. Reinstall the derby cover. Go back to the clutch cable adjuster and turn the adjuster barrel outward until you have about an 1/8 inch freeplay in the cable. Tighten the lock nut and replace the adjuster cover.

When shifting my 2005 flhtp seem like it clunks when going into gear upshift and downshift is that normal or do i need clutch adjustment


I'd adjust the clutch. With the engine off, put the transmission in first gear. Pull the clutch in and hold it. Try to start the engine. If the bike pulls forward, you need to adjust the clutch.

Find the rubber boot that covers the cable adjuster on the clutch cable and move it up or down. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster inwards getting as much slack in the cable as possible.

Then, take the derby cover off the primary. You'll see an adjuster screw in the middle of the clutch assembly. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster inwards until you feel a resistance. DO NOT FORCE THE SCREW OR YOU'LL DAMAGE YOUR INNER CLUTCH HUB. Turn the screw in until you feel a resistance. Then, back it back out 1/2 turn and tighten the lock nut. Replace the derby cover.

Go back to the cable adjuster and turn the adjuster barrel out until you have about 1/8 inch of freeplay in the cable. Tighten the lock nut and replace the rubber boot.

My Roland TD-6 Bass drum pedal spring has come off the Pedal. How do I put it baxck on?


There should be a nut and a cylindrical tightener at the bottom of the spring. If you loosen these, you should be able to pull the spring up and get the ring back onto the post. Then just tighten the nuts back down to where the tension feels right.
V-Drums don't all come with the same kick pedal--in fact they are often sold seperately--but this should be enough to help you with most basic kick pedal designs.
let me know if this doesn't make sense and tell me anything else you can about the pedal itself and I'll find a picture so I know what you have. This should work though. Good luck!

To adjust the clutch, first find the clutch cable adjuster. It should be somewhere along the downtube of the frame in front of the engine. Slide the rubber bellows cover either up or down to expose the adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster inwards shortening the cable as much as possible.

Remove the Derby cover from the primary cover. In the middle of the clutch assembly is an adjuster bolt and a lock nut. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjust inwards until you feel a resistance. Don't not force the adjuster, go inwards until you feel the resistance of the throwout bearing on the other side. Try it a couple of times until you get the feel of it. Go inwards until you feel the resistance and then come back out 1/2 to 1 full turn. Lock the lock nut down and replace the derby cover.

Then go back to the cable aduster and and adjust the cable adjuster out until you have about an 1/8" freeplay at the lever. Lock that lock nut down and reposition the bellows cover.

Is it a manual or automatic transmission?

On the automatics the two cables that interconnect above the transmission need to be set perfect for the transmission to pump pressure and engage the transmission.

Set it so the backside is fairly tight and the carburator isn't loose to the throttle valve assembly. Then loosen the front cable and pull it towards yourself until tight and finger tighten the adjustment bolts.

Now shift it into Neutral. Loosen the front and back nuts on the heavy shifting rod and center them again. Tighten them up. If you loose reverse loosen the front cable a tiny bit and you're done.

The brakes will no tighten up on the wheel


You have to adjust the break cable..
Loosen the little nut that hols the cable at the break.. Pull the cable out a little bit with pliers.. Tighten the nut at the break..
Thus taking a little bit of slack out of the cable and now the break will work properly..

How do i install the inner throttle cable on a 1973 flh and get the length right?


If you're talking about the old style throttle cable that is internal of the handlebar, it's pretty straight forward. Remove the throttle grip, the rollers and pin for the plunger. Pull the plunger out bringing the old throttle cable with it or at least out far enough to loosen the small set screws that lock the cable in. Now, run the new cable through the outer housing. put the end of new cable into the plunger and tighten the set screws. Replace plunger into the handlebar, replace pin and rollers, replace throttle grip. Now, set the throttle to full closed posititon. Move carb throttle lever to full closed position. With throttle cable through clamp tighten screw securing cable. Check for proper operation of throttle mechanism.
