Based on the assumption it's mechanically ok, check the cable connection between the document feeder and the base, if damaged or worked look it can cause errors. If it is a sensor error, check for a small bit of paper or even a staple from a prior jam.

SOURCE: Document in ADF error when faxing

  1. This problem is caused by refilling your ink cartridge but there is a solution
  2. When the ink is low or the computer thinks the ink is low the sheet feeder will not work
  3. You will notice that the in use/memory light is on
  4. The memory has a report it needs to print but does not want to print it without ink
  5. To print the report anyway do the following:
  6. Press the <FAX> button to enter the Fax menu.
  7. Press the <Menu> button. [FAX SETTINGS] is displayed
  8. Press the left or right arrow button to select [RX SETTINGS] , then press <OK> two times.
  9. Press the left arrow to select [ON], then press <OK>.
Note: When AUTO PRINT RX is set ON, a sub-menu will appear to PRINT WHEN NO INK. Select Yes. make sure there is paper in the printer.

  10. At sub-menu PRINT WHEN NO INK, decide if you'd like the machine to continue to print incoming received faxes if ink is low.

Need instructions for sending a 10 page fax. I do not have a GETTING STARTED GUIDE. Is there a way to download a copy of the GUIDE? OR will you provide help?

Dear Joan
since the model was not mentioned its difficult to say but in most cases the fax is having a ADF (automatic document feeder). Few of then scan the face downward and other face upward.
test yourself by putting the document at ADF face upward and copy it, if copy comes as original, then put all 10 pages face upward in the ADF. press OHD(on hook dial) or SPK PHONE, dial the fax no. get the the fax Rx tone press START. Also you you can dial the fax no. and press start from memory.(as it will scan to memory and then fax).
Thanks.

Xerox documate 752

Your document must be in place/position to be scanned, faxed, etc.

Place document, then scan. ADF is your automatic document feeder. Used when copying/scanning multiple pages. Reload and try again.

Cannot print screen shows ADF.what does this mean?

Hi!

ADF stands for Automatic Document Feeder and it means the device mounted on top of your pixma that allows multiple pages to be scanned/copied/faxed one at a time automatically.

Now why does it not print? The machine "believes" some document is inserted in the ADF in order to be scanned/copied/faxed, and wants that operation to be completed before it accept any print job. Please remove, if present, any paper from the ADF. Maybe its only some small piece of broken paper or even dust on the sensor in the ADF.

Good luck!

Does canon pixma mx 310 work faxing page up or page down?

When using the ADF load the document with the side you want to copy, fax or scan facing UP in the ADF.

When using the platen glass load the document with the side to be copied, faxed or scanned facing DOWN on the platen glass.
