Maybe ur mem card is busted?
Try FORMATiNG ur mem card in ur PSP!
insert ur card into the slot and try to press the card at one side....see if ur PSP register the card, sometimes the card contact point didn't touch PSP's contact pins!
Hi 90%of these are tarnished pins on the memory card, get a hard bristle tooth brush and scrub the mem card pins length ways then turn the psp on goto game tab and then slowly push the memcard in and out a few times
untill you see the mem icon come up failing this there is a serious problem in the mem slot or the memory card Good luck
The firmware you are talking about is a chiped psp, iso and cso games mean that they have been copied and put on the pc so u can play them for free, but there is one problem u need to 'chip' your psp the way u can do this is get 'pandoras battery' and 'magic memory stick' and chip it, do it manualy from help sites on the internet or get a friend thats psp is 'chiped and ask him to chip yours with his battary and memory stick
Did yout try using the same UMD game your brother was using and see if the game format has anything to do with it? Since you upgraded, the UMD game may be old, and might not work with Version 3.71. It sounds like your PSP is working just fine other than that.
