Question about Epson Stylus NX400 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My Epson SX415 will no longer recognise non-Epson cartridges. Previously it has warned me that I am not using genuine Epson but has let me continue and print.Frustrating, but it got there in the end. Now nothing - just endless messages telling me to instal genuine Epson. Is there any way to overcome this - other than buying Epson?

If the printer is telling you to do this then you may be out of luck... but if the message is cropping up on the computer you can disable the nag screen using this approach:

  1. Go to Printers and Faxes (or the equivalent screen that lists all your printers)
  2. Right click your SX415 printer and choose "Printing Preferences"
  3. Click on the "Maintenance" tab
  4. Click on the "Speed & Progress" button
  5. Tick the "Disable EPSON Status Monitor" checkbox
  6. Click on OK
  7. Click on OK to close the Preferences window
That should about do it...

This stops the nagging at least but I can't guarantee that it will force the printer to continue...

Hope it helps.

1. New original ink tank will dried for several times of head cleaning procedure.

. ....ran a nozzle check and cleaned print heads because it wasn't printing any ink on the paper.... ???
Nothing at all? If yes, problem is in the printer main board. Lost electricity to the head.

I have the Epson R1900 and I did a nozzle check twice and head cleaning twice. I am unable to check my supply levels. I am getting a message saying to only use genuine Epson Ink but that is what it

More than a little unusual that the printer is reporting non-OEM cartridges if those are the ones loaded unless your cartridge supplier has obtained their stock from another sales zone, in which case it may be that the printer is not recognising them as being valid.

Presumably, given the model you are getting the warning on your computer so you can disable this status monitor by doing the following:

- Open Printers & Faxes (or the equivalent for your operating system
- Locate your R1900 printer in the list
- Right click and select "Printing Preferences" (or "Properties" followed by "Printing Preferences")
- Click the "Maintenance" tab
- Click on the button marked "Speed & Progress"
- Tick the box marked "Disable status monitor 3.0" (The exact line may differ)
- Click Apply then OK

This should disable the annoying "Use genuine" warnings although it will also disable your ink monitoring capabilities via software.

I would still contact your supplier and/or Epson to complain about the problem and ask for replacement cartridges for the ones most recently changed as obviously this is something that should be covered under the cartridge warranty.

Hope that helps.

Epson stylus sx200 refuses to acknowledge black ink bought direct from epson

I believe the DX series and the SX use the same system

# Determine which ink cartridges are not recognised.
# With the ink cartridge holder in the ink cartridge replacement position, lift up the ink cartridge holder lid and take the cartridge or cartridges out.
# Check that the cartridge is a genuine Epson ink cartridge - look for the EPSON branding and T0xxx codes on the cartridge labels.
# Check that the cartridges are correct for your Epson product.
# Wipe the green Intellidge Chip on the cartridge that is not recognised.
# Check the chip contacts within the ink cartridge holder for any debris or dried ink and wipe with a lint-free cloth if necessary.
# Check that the plastic at the bottom of the cartridge has been pierced.
# Check that the cartridges are in the correct slots.
# Reinstall the cartridges into the ink cartridge holder in the correct order.
# Push the ink cartridge down firmly. It should click into place.
# Repeat this for any ink cartridges that were removed.
# Push the ink cartridge holder lid down. It should clip into place and be secure.
# Press the Stop button, this will return the ink cartridge holder to the right hand side of the unit.
# If the error light flashes after the print head returns to the home position, the ink cartridge may not be installed properly.
# If the red light is no longer displayed, but Status Monitor still reports a Non-Genuine Ink warning.
# If the red light is still on the printer, and Status Monitor indicates that an ink cartridge is not recognised, follow the steps below.
# If the problem remains, there may be a fault with the ink cartridge.

I have been using non Epson cartridges for years on my RX620 but today when I changed the black cartridge, I got a message that none of my cartridges were recognized as Epson and the printer is now locked...

Newer Epson ink cartridges and other manufacturers place a chip in the cartridge that interacts with the printer, telling it is a genuine cartridge.

If an aftermarket cartridge is used, it may not have the chip and subsequently will not work with the printer.

The best work around is to use genuine Epson cartridges, but when they are empty, take them to a store that can re-fill them or exchange them for a previously refilled genuine cartridge.

Epson CX4100 won't accept non-genuine ink cartridges

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That is your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Printer says "Install ink cartridges correctly and then hit ok"

Try putting genuine ink it. If it still refuses to recognise the carts then it need to go back to Epson for a warranty repair. As an Epson eng 90% of the time, rubbish compatible cartridges are the source of such issues. They can even make the printer stop recognising genuine carts.

Do not mention to Epson that you used compatibles or they may refuse the warranty repair.
