Question about RCA Televison & Video
When you are pressing the button longer than usual the security systems in the power source are momentarily disabled and the source is forcefully started. Unfortunately it immediately detects that there's some massive short on it output lines and the secondary safety disconnects the main power (the click you hear).
Th damage must be extensive to observe this behaviour. To find and fix it the tv must be tested ; start with the power source and test the 125Volts line first (it's the main consumer and the most likely cause for the failure). If the line is dead then the High Tension module has failed - check the power transistors, the deflection diodes and the flyback transformer.
All this requires a good experience in electronics. If you don't have it then it will be better to call a repairman, and it will be expensive.

On these RCA projection TVs there are many things that can cause your issue, bad connections or shorted components, doesn't sound simple I work on these and end up sending the chassis out sometimes to our shop to be rebuilt on the bench.
Most likely a repairman will charge at least $250-$650 to fix it, depending on if the chassis needs to be shipped out to be rebuilt.
If you want to repair it yourself, know how to use multimeter and soldering iron, could keep all precautions could read schematics, revert and i would be able to provide you some pointers.
