Tv works fine if trying to play a dvd but can't pick up tv channels at all now
Hi, tv is 2 yrs old and out of warranty. had no problems with it and then one day it wouldn't receive any picture from the external aerial. tried rabbit ears, same result. have tried another tv through the same external aerial socket and it works fine. tv plays movies same as always. tv is not digital. is it possible for to fix this problem myself? if so, how? thankyou
Re: tv works fine if trying to play a dvd but can't pick...
Your tv has a problem in its tuner or intermidiate frequency section.it is better to bring it a service center to repair it.but if your familiar with tv parts and its function perhaps you can resolder the tuner pins and adjust the IF transformer for video which is usually mark VCO in the circuit board.

try turning the channel up or down with the tv remote to input 1 or 2 depending on which one is being used for the dvd player. tv should use input 1. dvd should be on input 2.
when turning the channel set it to show the dvd screen, then go up 1. if it doesn't show, return and go down 1.
If not, the RCA plugs, listed as input 1 and 2 are shown on channel 91 and 92.
I recommend connecting the DVD to either input. Turn on the DVD. Then run the auto programming function of the TV. It will find and program the channel for the DVD. Then use the channel up or down on the remote you are currently using and you should find a working DVD.
If the DVD recorder has an RF out then you should be able to tune it on UHF bandwidth. The cable should run from the RF Out on the recorder to RF on the TV. Switch the recorder on, put in a DVD and press play before tuning. Some DVD's require a disc before a Menu appears. Good Luck, Regards, JUS004
