When I try to compile a module with GTK -2.0 on a Linux Fedora Core 13 machine I get following error message: gcc -g helloworld.c -o helloworld `pkg-config --cflags gtk -2.0` \ `pkg-config --libs gtk -2.0` gcc: -pthread: Bestand of map bestaat niet In English: gcc:-pthread: File or map does not exist

Does anyone know what this -pthread stands for?

  • ralfmeirsman Aug 04, 2010

found a solution to the problem:
    Now I use gcc helloworld.c -o helloworld `pkg-config gtk+-2.0 --cflags --libs`
    and it works fine.

You may not have defined the location of the Helloworld file location
Example Dir ADFS::HardDisc.$.Tools.!GCC.Example.CType 'Ex' to check that you have changed to the correct directory. This command gives a list of the files in the current directory. You should see 'c' in the list.
Now you're ready to compile.

Ex will display the files in current dir which its trying to compile from
If you dont want to change it then you can just move your .C file into that directory and then re-issue your compile command and it will work.

Ok, Congrats and wish you all the best in future, The world is lacking many programmers and we need more people to get into coding new applications..

You could also save alot of time and use a C compiler rather than using GCC to compile, So you also have an IDE interface and an easy way of building/debugging and correcting any problems...

Net-beans is a great IDE for linux environments. http://www.netbeans.org/downloads/index....

You can also use GCC but an IDE would help a-lot in creating your own applications without writing the files manually if that is what you are currently doing..

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

How we use linux complier to edit, debug and compile computer programes

I'm assuming your using some form of C.To edit, you can install command-line based editors like emacs and vim, or use gui editors such as gedit or kate. There is also IDE options like EclipseTo compile is relatively simple, most linux distros come with a builtin version of gcc and g++ (the c compiler and c++ compiler); more information here: http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~beechung/ref/gcc-intro.htmlTo debug, it is a little more complex and you may have take some time to properly learn the workings of a debugger. If you're using Eclipse, I'm pretty sure there's a builtin debugger in that which would be rather simpler to use than the alternative I use: gdb (http://www.unknownroad.com/rtfm/gdbtut/gdbtoc.html).

How to download and install apache on linux5

Hi Follow the below procedures.
How to install and start the Apache or httpd service under Linux

by Milind

Q. How do I install and start the Apache or httpd web server under Fedora core or Cent OS?

A. Apache HTTP Server is a free software/open source web server for Unix-like systems and other oses.

Apache features configurable error messages, DBMS-based authentication databases, and content negotiation. It is also supported by several graphical user interfaces (GUIs) which permit easier, more intuitive configuration of the server.

Use rpm command to install Apache under Linux. You can also use up2date or yum command to install the same.
Task: Install Apache/httpd under Fedroa Core/Cent OS Linux

Type the following command if you are using Fedora or Cent OS Linux:

# yum install httpd
Now, start the Apache/httpd
# chkconfig httpd on
# /etc/init.d/httpd start
Task: Install Apache/httpd under Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Type the following command
# up2date httpd
Start the Apache/httpd
# chkconfig httpd on
# /etc/init.d/httpd start
Task: Debian Linux httpd/Apache installation

Use apt-get command:
# apt-get install apache2
# /etc/init.d/apache2 start
Task: Verify that port 80 is open

# netstat -tulpn | grep :80

You can also install httpd from CDROM with rpm command:
# rpm -ivh httpd*
Configuration

Your server is started but you need to configure and use Apache as per your requirement. /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf (RHEL/Cent OS/Fedora Core Linux) or /etc/apache2/httpd.conf (Debian / Ubuntu Linux) configuration file. Use text editor such as vi to edit file. This file is very well documented or read official Apache configuration documentation for more information.

Install xp vista linux

If you're trying to install all three operating systems onto the same partition it's creating a conflict, more than likely between Vista and linux. XP and Vista are similar enough and recognize each other, putting them in the same partition is ok, but try setting up another partition to install the linux to. I'm curious as to why you want or need all three on the same machine?
