Question about HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server - 1 x Xeon 2.26GHz - 4GB DDR3 SDRAM - Ultra ATA , Serial Attached SCSI R...

1 Answer

ProLiant DL160 G6 Server, Part Number 593352-B21, Serial Number USE029N5Z2. The system fails to power on. The power supply has the LED light green. The start button does not turn amber. Do not need to press the start button, system turns on (?), start button stays dark, not amber or green. The internal health LED stays dark not on, green or red. I can not find any help within H/Ps web site as to what may cause this. At this time do not have another system like this to switch parts with. Tried removing the CMOS battery, no change. This system is brand new out of the factory shipping box, factory sealed.

ProLiant ML150 G6 and DL160 G6 (HP Smart Array B110i SATA RAID) does not support more than 4GB memory, (2GBX2 modules) or more added, it works fine with single 2GB module. Boot OS with single module and upgrade system Rompack to the latest version then upgrade B110i controller driver to Shut down the server, add additional modules. It will work fine.

Issue with power button in HP ProLiant ML370 G6 server

If i am not mistaken I belive that there are two power supplies, correct? what if you swap them? Or if you have a spare... I think that maybe either the button isn't working correctly or the power supply might have some issues...I also think there might be some LED lights on the power supplies themselves...check it out.

Issue with power button of HP ProLiant ML370 G6 server.

I would check the the power supply to make sure they are seated correctly. Also, if you have intalled any new item, check to make sure it is seated correctly. If all are correct, you may have a faulty power supply or the en power outlet may not be correct specs for power needed.

Good luck.

I forget bios password for HP DL160 G6 server, how do i reset the password ?

  1. Shutdown your server.
  2. Go inside the server, and remove the CMOS battery. It should look like this.

3. Be sure to power down your server before taking it out. Be aware that once you take this out the system will forget a lot of it's time settings. This is the battery that keeps the computer's memory of time, date, and BIOS password when it's shutdown.

Check the back for a bad power supply. You should be using dual power with dual supply. It should have indicator light on somewhere. Connect to another source if no LED is on.

I have a HP Proliant ML350 G6 running MS Small Bus. Server 2008. It will freeze up 3-5 times a week which holds up work loads. What might be the cause of it freezing up so often? Thanks,

HEAT, is a big factor. That is a mighty Xeon Server Quad Core CPU and when it gets to work it gives off heat.

You need to make sure that the chassis is well ventilated, install some fans to keep it cool. Clean the heatsink and surrounds of dust. Use a vacuum cleaner.
Also scan the system for Malware and Virues, these pieces of code simply get the computer to do a whole lot of nothing usefull to you. Find them and delete them. Usually a good cleaning will get it operating efficiently and effectively, giving you a responsive and productive computer system.

Take care!

I have HP proliant DL160 server. How i will make RAID two HD?

Try going into the RBSU(Rom based setup utility) and configuring SATA RAID in the advanced section.

This doesn't work for all versions - if it doesn't help, please be more specific about your configuration, i.e. what "G" level is the server? Hot plug or non hot plug drive? etc.
