Your rear tub support bearing "lip-Seal" has gone out and you need to replace the Lip-Seal and at least the inner bearing,I normally do them both, because it takes a long time to remove the drum and rear access pulley to replace them and if theyre rusted it can take up to 4 hours to replace them,so just do them both and the seal

You will find that Maytag wants you to replace the inner drum assy at a huge cost. Take the bearings out and take them to a parts store. They can size them with AG bearings at about $20 a peace and then buy the seal from a washer parts supply on line. Much cheeper

The spin cycle is very noisy. What could be the problem?

hi robyn.
A washer making a loud noise during spin cycle can also be caused by a faulty drive pulley. The pulley is what the belt (if applicable to yourwasher) rides on to spin your washers tub. The pulley can be made of plastic or metal. It could be simply worn out or just loose.27 Jul 2015

Loud noises during spin cycle. Drum is eating up. All springs and shocks appear to be ok

The water seal has worn out and water has gotten into the bearings. You need to call a service tech to have it repaired. It is not a cheap repair. Whirlpool has a repair that replaces the back half of outer tub and a new inner tub or basket one in the same. Another salution is replace the seal and bearings, still a lot of labor. go to utube and a guy does to an LG, but the the repair is about the same for a Duet

High pitched sound during spin cycle

That machine doesn't have a belt. It is more likely that you have a bearing going bad. You may also have a tub seal starting to go which then leaks water onto the bearing, damaging it.

Making loud noise in the spin cycle and now does not spin at all

Sounds like the tub bearing is gone. Get it checked out though. It could be the pump bearing, a cheaper fix. Or as bad as the tub bearing, a motor bearing.

Loud noise during washing/rinsing cycles

I just replaced the bearings on my Front loader Maytag MAH5500B, as it sounded like a freight train during the spin cycle. The bearing replacement fixed the train problem.

NEW PROBLEM NOW: It's been about a month now since the bearing job and now something is clicking/binding when you spin the back belt wheel. I have taken the belt off and carefully move the wheel and I still get this clicking noise. It sounds as if someone is hitting the plastic drum that the tub is surrounded by. I really doubt it's the bearings this soon, as the sound is not the same! No leaks or metal shavings to speak of or rubbing of the belt wheel.

Seems like it's more noticeable during the wash/rinse cycles then the spin.

Can anyone help.???
