Question about Sony Hi8 CCD-TRV138 Camcorder

Open Question

I have a Sony CCD-FX500E camcorder with Red Yellow and White lead output, it is nearing the end of its life. Problem:- How can I take the output from above and feed it into a USB input on my PC so as to transfer the raw data from the camcorder tape onto my hard disc. My operating system is Windows XP and i have Windows Movie Maker installed. Thank you Ken Macaulay

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

Same problem, same frustration. Just flashing, won't open to insert tape, Battery relatively new. Is there any way to get it to open to put in tape? I hate this technology, not along far enough.

SOURCE: Connecting my Sony Camcorder CCD-TRV 108 to my computer

To do this you will need a firewire cable 4 to 6 pin, here a link:®-Firewire-Cable-4-Pin-6-Pin/dp/B0016W3L3O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1226166429&sr=8-3

you'll plug the 4 pin connector, that's the smaller one, into the DV port on the camera, then you'll plug the 6 pin into the computer's firewire port.
now open WMM, iMovie, Adobe Premire, whatever you are editing with:
imove: got to capture> video from camera, in the new one there should be a little button with a camera, just click that
WMM: Click record> from camera, then put your camera in playback mode, and hit record on WMM, start playing and BAM. same prcess for recording applies to pretty much all of them.

AV Cable to television

The CCD-TRV81 uses a standard Composite AV cable. These are available in most electronics stores (and for less at on-line cable shops). These use 3 RCA plugs on each end (red, white, yellow).

Match the colors to the jacks on each side. The manual is available here: .

I hope this helps.

How do i download my pictures from my handycam trv49e so that my tapes can be reused

Search Google and found this:
The Sony CCD-TRV49 camcorder doesn't have a digital output, so you have to capture and convert the analog composite video signal and audio signals. On the PC side you need an analog video capture board, a sound card to capture the audio and a video capture/editing software. You can also find on the market external USB devices that contains all these things.

The composite video is the yellow RCA connector that goes straight to your capture board.
The left audio is the white RCA connector and the right audio is the red RCA connector. These are mixed on a stereo jack plug that enters into soundcard input socket.

To connect the CCD-TRV35E SONY camcorder to a computer directly

You don't say what kind of computer you are trying to connect to, so I will make a few assumptions. If you have a windows machine it most likely has USB port. Most lower end computers don't come with "firewire" or "anaglog" inputs. You will need to purchase a device (about $50.00) from most suppliers that will accept the ouput of your camcorder (the analog output is the yellow (or some other color) 1/8 in jack that you will plug your cable into , the cable will have one yellow and either one white, or one yellow with two audio connectors (one red and one white) this plugs into the device that you are gonig to purchase. There are also "firewire to USB" devices but they cost more money and are really not worth the extra dollars, in my opinon. Some computers have the firewire input and if this is the case your in luck, just use or buy the firewire or ("digital") cable and plug one end into your camcorder and the other into the computer.
I have 13 computers and 15 camcorders so i do know somethign about this. I just wish you had put more info about your equipment.

How to connect Sony CCD-TRV238E Hi-8 to pc

With the camcorder you should have a lead with a small (3.5mm) jack plug at one end (connects to the camcorder) and at the other end three phono plugs (red/yellow/white).

These can be plugged into either your TV, dvd/video recorder or, IF you have the card in your PC a video input card.

I'm guessing that you probably won't have the card in the PC (on the back of the PC would be two or three phono inputs) in which case you would need to install a card or use an external capture device such as Dazzle (link below).

If you have a dvd recorder (under the TV) these have the inputs you need and can burn direct to DVD but you can't edit the film.

Hope I've not confused you too much

Connect sony handycam video hi 8 to a computer

There are lots of devices on ebay for doing this. I have one for just about £15 so pretty cheap. You then play the video through the "red yellow an white plugs" an its converted into USB. Easy to use software too. You can record from a video player or any digital camera or camcorder or ineed anything which has an output of the yellow red an white connectors.

I tried searching for your camera on the internet for a run down on how it connects to a pc but with the model number you gave I got no results?

There might be a small connector somewhere which is infact USB but looks nothing like it! You will find a similar connector on some mobile phones, or an ipod, digi camera etc etc One model I did find says it does streaming straight to USB.
