Try an external monitor. If it works then it's your screen. If it doesn't then it's probably your video card. You can try replacing the lcd yourself if you like. Look on the internet for companies that will replace the lcd or repair whatever is wrong with it. Go to my blog at www.juanscomputercorner.blogspot.com and get my info so you can communicate directly with me if you like.

Acer aspire 1640

start up the computer and while its running, hold a flash light to the screen. If you can see any graphics on the screen, your lcd converter burned out. If you can seen nothing, its possible that the back light lamp burned out and the best option would be to replace the screen altogether

Acer Aspire 5100 laptop's screen remains black at start-up

This is probably a hardware issue with the monitor. Just to make sure, uninstall, and reinstall the monitor's driver. If that doesn't fix it, it's a hardware issue.

You will have to either take it to a shop, or contact the manufacturer (your computer should be under warranty if you've had it for less than a year).

Acer Aspire (1414) screen stays black when started

It's look like your laptop have a problem called "NO POST".
motherboard, cpu or memory can cause this problem.
To diagnose it, reseat your memory first and after that turn it on.
if it still no post.
use only 1 memory and turn it on, if still same,
Try to move your memory and seated to different slot and turn it on. if it still same, it's mean your motherboard/cpu is bad.

good luck
