Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

I cannot download my videos from the camera to my PC. Do you have any hint on how-to-do-it? Or may be I can download a software specifically for this?

You can download or copy the video from your cameraif you have the usb data cable that comes with your camera. Connect your camera via usb cable to your PC.
Once plug in your PC let it read the new hardware and wait for the message "found new hardware is ready for use". Then you can explore the content of the camera like a hard drive. Look for it in the My Computer.

Installing CD Burner from Inspiron model to Dimension 2400. Where are jumpers and what setting is needed to be sure hardware is recognized by "new" unit? Cable connections appear OK.

It is is a SATA then ther are no jumper to play with at all.
just make the two connection (one for power) (other for data)

If its an IDE type then you are usually better off setting the jumper to cable select (CS) and it will be on the rear of the drive itself usually to the left of the data cable and there should be marking for M / S / CS nearby.
If it does not show up you may want to move it to slave (S)
depending on what you have for drives in there may and how they are set will dictate the actuall jumper

I up lode the pc sute for nokia 2690 but the connectivity is not there its shows that usb modem is not connected

uninstall the pc suite first. > go to device manager by typing "devmgmt.msc" in "run" > check if there the nokia hardware is listed there or not. > if it is there uninstall it. > restart the system and install the software. > when it prompts to insert the usb cable insert it. > it will automatically detect the cable and will install the firmware from the mobile. > after installing it will work fine.

Computer cannot detect DVD drive. drive opens and reads discs, but computer does not know it.

Computer reads the hardware when it is connected with the mothermoard with a data cable and the hardware can even work if not connected to motherboard because there are 2 cables connected with every hardware. 1 is power cable which makes the hardware gets ON and the other is data cable which makes it work so we see it in the computer. Your data cable connection may have gone faulty so its getting on and taking the CD but is not reading it.

Another thing may b that the cd is not good so change the cd and insert a new cd.
Hope that answer your question?

New Driver

hi shubhada,

HP requires you to begin the installation of the printer with the printer not connected to the PC via the data cable. You can follow these guidelines in order to correctly install the drivers:
  1. Delete the printer from your PC
  2. Unplug the data cable from your PC
  3. With the data cable not connected to the PC, run the driver installation program.
  4. Connect the printer to the PC with the data cable when prompted to do so by the driver installation program.
This procedure prevents Windows from following its Automatic Hardware Detection and Installation process, which results in the HP driver not being installed correctly.

Thank you for the great feedback. I hope you find this information useful in solving your problem. Sorry for not clarifying the solution during the previous encounter.
Kind regards.
