Try this (you may need two people):
1. Open the dryer door and locate the door switch. While pushing the door switch in, have someone else push the start button.
2. You'll hear the noise. Keep pushing both buttons and take your other hand, reach in side and grab one of the drum fins and manually push the drum in a clockwise direction.
3. The drum may take off on its own. BE CAREFUL TO REMOVE TO HAND QUICKLY TO NOT GET BUMPED BY THE FINS AS THEY BEGING TO ROTATE.
If it does not start, the motor needs to be replaced. If it is still under full warranty, simply call a repairman.
If this works, turn the dryer off, close the door and try to start it again just by pushing the start button. If it works, it may have been something obstructing the drum from turning. OR, the motor could be going out. It may continue to start on its own for an unkown period of time, a day, a week, and year. But eventually it will go out and will need replaced.
Replacing the motor is a bit involved, but if you want to attempt it I can walk you through it.
There should be a 5 YEARS warranty on the motor, so you might consider a repairman. Make sure they are certified and there will be no cost to you for the motor. The labor, however, may be up to you and could be expensive.

I'm willing to assist you on whatever you decide, but I will need the complete make and model number.

Here is information on where to find the whole model number:

Michael Pryor I got a dryer model number.WED7500VW, is not turning on door switch onewire Was burn....

The door switch activates when the dryer door is closed. On most dryers, the door switch makes an audible clicking sound when it activates. To determine if the door switch is working, try starting your dryer and then listen for the "click." If the door switch makes a clicking sound, it is probably not defective. If you don't hear a click, use a multimeter to use the door switch for continuity. If the switch does not have continuity, replace it.

Frigidaire Dryer model # LEQ1442ES0. The lights come on and beep at us like normal when I change settings but when I press start, they just blink and beep but wont turn on.

Thank you for your post, friend!

From my understanding your Frigidaire dryer is not starting and the lights just blink. It sounds like a faulty door switch or control panel. I would check to make sure the latch or door strike is not cracked or broken if the door is not closing properly that could be the cause of your dryer not starting.

You could also perform a reset on your dryer and that could help clear any faulty error codes within your dryer. To reset your dryer you would unplug the power cord for ten minutes. I hope this has been beneficial. -Matt

Whirpool Fronload Dryer has power, timer cycles through, but it is not running. The dryer worked two days ago when I ran a load. I went to dry a load this morning and it turns on, everything lights up...

The reasons can be a fault on the program controller unit but as the door does not close the program also will not move further. This must be the clue to the fault. Remove and check the lock and the settings. manually close the door with force and see if the program cycle starts, if not check the door switch and the control panel. Also check for output when the timer counts down. If not the controller unit must be checked for possible problems.

Maytag Dryer drum not turning properly after cleaning

Make sure the drum belt is positioned properly. You may have disturbed it when you removed the front door panel. It should be a tight fit on the drum. You should see the wear pattern on the drum where the belt was. Check the condition of the belt and make sure it's not cracked or stretched and slipping. Did you disconnect any wires when you opened it? Double check that you didn't rehook the wires wrong and make sure the door sensor switch is in proper position. Hope that helps.

Hello...i have a whirlpool dryer ler7646eq1...the dryer will not start...i can hear some action near the switches but dryer will not start at all...any idea where to start....it is getting proper power...

Hi,
Here are somethings to check.
Make sure you have power and inspect power cord.
Check the door switch when you push in the door switch does it click? Try setting the timer to a different setting see if it works there. The next thing to check would be the thermal fuse but this would require opening up the cabinet.

220 dryer intermittently tech says dryer ok electritien says wiring 2 dryer ok and breaker ok

This sounds as if the door switch is weak or the actuator is damaged and turning off the dryer before the cycle is complete. Make sure your dryer door closes and latches properly. If it quits mid cycle again press on the door and then press start...DO NOT open the door until you try this. If pressing on the door and pushing start gets a cycle start then I suspect you have a door switch problem. However,,,,, a dirty / cl;ogged vent or an air blockage some where in the vent / dryer air flow ducting can give you intermittent operation also. Make sure you check the outside flapper valve where the vent exits outside the house also. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Door switch part number 3406109
Thermal fuse part number 3392519

Dryer clicks when start button pushed but does not start.

A quarter was lodged on the thermal fuse , located below the lint screen on the blower exhaust housing, on our dryer. Remove the front lower panel , 2 screw, and you'll see 2 fuses. I suspect that our control board is burnt.

Intermittant heat for drier

check for flow of air through the dryer arts as it sounds like the clicking is the thermal cut out activating, this prevents the dryer from overheating, the common cause for overheating is blockage (no air flow) or the fan that blows the air round the machine is not working, or not working properly, so check the fan see if its turning etc hope i have helped, if so please rate me
