First make sure your AVG is up-to-date...then to get rid of the popup click on the red sheild that opens the security center. Click on "Recommendations" and then check the checkbox that says, "I have antivirus software I will monitor on my own". that should get rid of the red shield on your taskbar. If updating your AVG does not work, try using Avast Free Antivirus...It's free and works alot better than AVG. Hope this helps.

I have a new Vistaquest DV700. I tried to install the driver with the enclosed c-d rom and my anti- virus (F-Secure) refuses to install. I went online to find a driver and F-Secure says the Vistaquest...

If you are going directly to the manufacturer for updated drivers, you know the programs must be safe. Turn off you Virus Protection temporarily and download the updates and install. When done, turn the Virus Pro. back on.
OR: go to Windows DEVICES, go to the line where Printers are listed. Select the printer and check for Updates. It will do everything automatically. Also make certain the printer is set as the main printer in your Printer Settings area. (Go to SETTINGS).

I am having problem in installing any antivirus.... infact m unable to do that....:( previously despite having kespersky updated ( 3o days trail) i had virus in my system..... what can i do to keep my...

Hi there,

First uninstall your current antivirus, it's just a trial anyway.
Download the free version of Malware Bytes. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Update it then run it. (Check for malwares)

Then download the Microsoft Security Essentials. This one is for free as well. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
Update it then run it. (Check for viruses)

Microsoft Security Essentials will protect your system real-time while the free version of Malware Bytes will not. So you have to run malware bytes if you suspect something got in your computer.

Don't worry because they don't conflict each other.

Lastly, make sure that your windows firewall is turned ON.
If you are using windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. On the General tab, click On (recommended).
  3. Click OK.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, follow these steps:
  1. 1. Click start, type check firewall status in the search box. A result will be shown above.
  2. 2. Click check firewall status from the results. A window will open.
  3. 3. On the left side of that window Click Turn Windows Firewall On or Off.
  4. 4. Select the option that says Turn On Windows Firewall. (There should be 2, one for Home/Private and another for Public).
You should be protected now.
Keep me posted.

McAffe security protection. Compaq Presario XP

Hi,
The Windows Firewall is different from MCafee Security Centre. And if it has a X on it that means Ur MCafee Protection is disabled or May be expired.
To Check that, Just click on the MCafee Icon on the desktop or on the botton right hand corner, and check if its disabled or u needs to renew it.

Thank You,
