NAD T531 - replace the chip?

By Charlie - usenet poster

Hello everyone.
I have a problem and would really appreciate your help...

I own a NAD T531 DVD player bought in Canada. It only supports NTSC system.
However, the European version of NAD T531 works both with PAL and NTSC.
Consequently, my model can play only Region 1 DVD movies, while European
users can play both Region 1 and Region 2.

1) Is there a way to enhance, update my American model of NAD T531 so that
it plays PAL DVD movies from Region 2?

2) Do I have to replace my internal chip with the chip found in the European
models? Will it work? Has anyone done it before? Are there any other
differences between these two models (American vs European) except for
different power supplies?

3) If replacing the internal chip is the way, does anyone know where to get
it and for how much?

Thank you very much. i really appreciate any single suggestion that would
help me find the solution.

Techtronics are a large and experienced DVD chipping company, they should be
able to help you with your model. I found a similar model on their website;

Look at it then maybe enquire into your particular model. Good luck.
