SOURCE: KVM unresponsive
Since you are not getting a light indicator on the port where the Windows 2008 is connected to, try swapping the ports or the cables. If the problem follows the Windows 2008, try connecting the KVM switch into different USB ports of that computer.
You may also try power cycling the KVM switch, by disconnecting it from the computers and leave it disconnected for two minutes.
After two minutes, reconnect everything back to the computer.

The KVM switch you have did not support "Active Full-time DDC" which Windows 7 need to keep communicating with all connected systems over the KVM switch. Two solutions: find a DDC Ghost adapter put in between the KVM switch and connected Win 7 system. Or just replace a new KVM switch which support Full-time Active DDC function - such as ConnectPRO new PR or UR serial KVM switches.

First, you need to be sure you have installed the correct drivers for the card that corresponds to your OS.
Second, you need to go into the control panel (assuming you are running Windows of course) and tell the computer you now have a new graphics card installed and to use it instead of the default one detected when the OS was installed.
Reattach the monitor to the GeForce card and reboot. All should be OK.

As a wild guess, it sounds like a static discharge MIGHT be affecting the switcher causing it to crash.
Try increasing your humidity to 40% and grounding yourself before touching the keyboard... This is the season for these static electricity problems... get nipped all the time and you MAY not even feel it to be enough to zap the switch.
