Question about Kitchen Ranges

Replace the oven control?

You said to "replace the oven control". After reading online of numerous complaints of the same problem with these stoves, ... I too assumed it was the oven control panel. However, is this something that a layperson can attempt? My husband is a building contractor/carpenter, but has never taken apart a stove before. What are the chances that he figure this out on his own?

Maytag Oven model MER5755QAQ has lock on the display and the oven will not operate.

If one of the position switches on the latch assembly is not reading, the control will sometimes lock because it "thinks" a clean cycle has been initiated, if replacing the control did not fix the lock icon, test the switch... Incorrect temp probe and thermostat failures can also make a control "think" it is in a clean cycle. Heartland metro f2 error code

bad sensor or bad computer board or clock assy.read out the sensor and find the tech sheet for your stove and it will tell you what the sensor should read out on,if the sensor is good then you have a bad computer board or clock assy.you can look up the error codes on the tech sheet too, look on the back of the stove, the papers are usually there on the back of the top console.F2 Oven temperature is too high 1. Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).
2. For SELF CLEAN models: check door lock operation.
3. Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit, not actual oven temperature

It is obvious that there is a major design problem with this model in that numerous enquiries under Kitchen Aid's "popular solutions" deal with a multitude of self-cleaning issues. We have had to...

NEVER use the self cleaning mode.

Sounds like my problem two days ago. I have a Kitchen Aid free standing gas oven/range model
KGRI801PWH00. I read online that the thermo-fuse might've blown. I found the thermo-fuse after removing the rear panel. It was at the top/center. Mine is T-O-D (brand) 60F24; Westinghouse #8300802. I ordered mine from appliancepartspros.com for only $34.75; arrived in 36 hrs with regular shipping!! Easy to fix, sure beats several hundred $$ to repairman.

Don't bother to call Kitchen Aid - they'll just blow you off just like the hundreds of complaints said that I found online.

Oven will not start, stove top works fine, possible lightning strike.

hi thom,

You are likely correct, you may need a new control panel, they are very sensitive to power surges. If you are handy you may be able to find one cheap online and replace it yourself, just be sure to unplug the stove or turn off the breaker before you work on it. if you have any questions on how to do that please contact me.

Tappan Oven overheats!!

If you have electronic controls, you'll need either the temperature probe (about $60.00) or the clock (about $150.00). You can test the temperature probe from behind the machine. It should read about 1080 ohms at room temperature. if the probe is good, replace the clock.

If you have mechanical oven controls, you need a new thermostat. Is the too high temp consistent? (i.e. runs at 375F +/- 25F?) If so, you can usually adjust the thermostat **** to read closer to the actual temperature.
