Question about LG L1730S 17" LCD Monitor

No power, 5 volts line is fluctuating periodically (about every one second) between 3 and 4.5 volts. no other measurements done yet... thank you for help DM

    dinu182, Supply rail is going "in and out" of shutdown mode. What does the other supply rail do??? +12v dc. Have you found any bad (swollen) electrolytic filter capacitors on the SMPS/inverter board? Have you visited YOUTUBE to look at video clips?? 12fixlouie

Caps look good? it may be in safety shutdown/restart mode. Try heating up the power supply board with hair dryer to see if it will start up, when bad caps are heated up the caps ESR will go down and may allow the power supply to start up. I use 6vdc small lamp attach to the 5vdc so I can see the lamp comes on or not.

I am trying to troubleshoot whether or not my ultra x2 connect 550 watt power supply is bad. When you press the power button on the computer, the light flashes and then noth9ing else happens. The light...


Well here is a way to check your power supply, on your hard drive connector using your volt meter and measuring from ground. this would be using one of two middle connectors it should measure +5 VDC on the red wire and + 12 VDC on the yellow wire. If these voltages are good then we got to see if the power supply is producing the -12VDC voltage. This voltage is ussed by the syustemboard on pin 14 of a 24 pin power supply. I would recommend not having your system board plugged in while measuring these votlages, but the power supply may need a load, I would plug in the cdrom.. Below are a couple of picture to explain this and a link to a website that has this documented.

dfish26_1.jpg The 24 pin main power connector was added in ATX12V 2.0 to provide extra power needed by PCI Express slots. The older 20 pin main power cable only has one 12 volt line. The new 24 pin connector added one line apiece for ground, 3.3, 5, and 12 volts. The extra pins made the auxiliary power cable unnecessary so most ATX12V 2.x power supplies don't have them. The 24 pin connector is polarized so it can only be plugged in pointing in the correct direction.

Cause #1
1. (Lamp may light and go out) suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Check for
12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check
for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part #
283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. (Lamp may light and go out)
Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if
low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V part # 181P732040 on the

I would start with #3, checking the 5 volt line and replacing the listed capacitors if needed.

Red light on no picture will work fine after several minutes


There is a list of things you need to check, but offhand I'd say that the 5 volt line is low and probably right on the"edge", which is why it works sometimes and not others take a look at this list:
Cause #1

I would say try #3 first, the two caps on the pwer supply board. A couple of warnings: as always, unplug the unit before servicing. The power supply is located on the left side, if you behind the unit. It is in a shielded box and the shield has VERY SHARP EDGES so use care when you try to open it or you will slice your fingers.

TXN2771HF (5yr old) - Front Panel a/o Remote Issue


Sounds like the 5 volt supply is low, Look for the 5 volt regulator, Measure you can go directly to the sensor 3 pins 1 will be 0 volts one will have 5 volts the other is usually a fluctuating 3-5 volts if 1 pin has to have 5 volts if it is low check capacitors around the 5 volt regulator probably 47uf to 100uf look for rusty look on the leads. If you see it change it! check these voltages with set turned off ( standby ) do not attempt if you dont know what your doing. Good luck. The reason it works when it is on is because there is a run 5 volt supplement.
