Most important thing... DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON!!! This can short circuit the ipod!
Make sure it is off! Your lucky because the iPod hasn't shorted yet Don't switch it on again!
I will teach you what to do...

You must remove the water from the iPod
Firstly Be sure that the iPod is off...
Now your going to have to open the iPod
This video will teach you how to open your iPod touch 2nd Gen

How to open iPod 3rd Gen

Now clean out all the water. You can use a hair dryer to do this... But make sure that the hair dryer is blowing out COLD air
Leave your iPod open for a while to dey out the remaining water Now put the iPod back together
Leave it for an hour or so Switch it on...
There is another way...
This way is easier and has worked for many people
First fill the headphone jack (where you plug in the ear phones) with WhiteOut (yes WhiteOut!!!).
Leave it for an hour or so Use Nail polish remover on a cotton bud to remove all of the WhiteOut. Let it dry before turning the iPod on. Enjoy!!!

I would stick it in a bowl of rice for a few weeks then test to see if it's working.
Another thing you could do if you still have your warranty, ring up the place that you bought your iPod touch and see if they can replace it.
You might loose all your music and games, but atleast you'll have a nice new shiny iPod Touch. :)
Also do what kniland said and visit that website and look through and see if you can find the problem. :D

It's hard to diagnose what the water has damaged without seeing the unit. But it could be a few issues, check out WhiteBoxService.com for more information on diagnosis.

Ipod touch screen is unresponsive but it makes sounds like normal

Fix an Unresponsive Ipod Screen
Many of today's electronic devices including cell phones, music players and portable game systems have a touch screen.
When a touch screen fails, it does not respond when you tap it with your finger or a stylus.
This can happen due to several reasons, such as a screen protector, dust or improper calibration.
You can often fix an unresponsive touch screen by cleaning it or resetting the device.
Remove the plastic touch screen protector sheet.
Some protector sheets are too thick and prevent the touch screen from responding to your touch. If you must use a protector screen, only use one that is licensed for your specific device.
Wipe the screen with a soft microfiber cloth.
Clean off any dirt, dust or fingerprints on the screen.

Dry your hands thoroughly.
The touch screen will not respond if your hands are wet.
Reset the device.
If your device does not have a "Reset" button, remove the battery, memory card or SIM card, then reinstall them.

Delete any third-party applications you recently installed.
Some third-party applications can cause your device to lock up or freeze.

Recalibrate the touch screen.
Look in the device's Settings menu for a calibration option and follow the prompts.

If this fails to fix the problem
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and hold it for a few seconds, until a red slider appears. Press the "Home" button until the frozen app quits.
If this doesn't work, you can try restarting the iPod touch.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button if you need to restart the iPod touch, and hold it until the red slider appears on the screen.
Slide your finger over the slider to turn off the device.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and hold it until the iPod touch turns back on.
If you can't turn off the iPod touch, you can try resetting it.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button while simultaneously pressing the "Home" button when you want to reset the iPod touch, and continue to hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds, until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears.

How do I take care of my iPod Touch

The best way to the life of your iPod Touch is to expand and take care of. With the proper care of your iPod is not just bigger, but will perform better in day-to-day. Taking proper care of your iPod Touch is not difficult, but you should be well treated if you want the most out of it.

1. Keep your iPod Touch in a temperate climate. The iPod Touch cannot be used below freezing F (0 º C or 32 ° F) or above 95 degrees (35 degrees C).

2. Keep your iPod touch dry. If your iPod touch gets wet, pull, twist it out with the Sleep / Wake button. Towel dry the iPod, and then, if you are afraid that the water seeped in, place your iPod in a bag of uncooked rice.

In the next 24 hours will help the rice absorb the moisture in the electronics. After 24 hours, remove the iPod touch and experience.

3. Turn your iPod Touch and remove the cables. Dampen a soft, lint-free cloth, like the kind used for cleaning glasses. Clear iPod Touch. Use only clean water. Leave your iPod to air dry. Clear the screen of your iPod touch regularly for fingerprints, smudges and dust and dirt more.

4. Take your iPod Touch into an iPod repair facility certification if you suspect that your iPod needs repair. According to Apple, the iPod Touch contains no user serviceable parts. "
Got wet and it works but no back light - the screen is really dark

Simply its wet and damaged and your lucky its working. You can try leaving it over night in a bowl of rice just drowned in the rice. Dont add water or anything else just rice. The rice works as an absorbant and it may remove that extra water that hasnt been able to try because it is inside the ipod.

I got my ipod touch wet with water, an my touch screen stopped working.then i blew in it where u charge it an te screen turned white so i let it dry an now the touchscreen wont work an its like really...

Throw it in a bag of white rice for a 5 days. Restaurants use it in their salt shakers to absorb moisture.

Apple won't replace units damaged by water, but theres a guy on You Tube that will show you ways to defeat the system so you can trade in your ipod under warranty for a new one.

Cheers Old Chap.

MY IPOD 32G TOUCH JUST QUIT WORKING

you can try and restore it. remember it will clear everything from your ipod but you can resync them later after restoration, to restore:
make sure you have itunes running and have access to the internet.

hold down the power/sleep button and the home button at the same time, the ipod will go dark, once it goes dark release the power button while still holding down the home button, and itunes and a usb cable icon will show up.

you might have to do this several times before those icons show up since your screen does not even light up.

now connect the ipod to your computer and itunes should recognized the ipod and follow the instructions to restore your ipod. it will take some time but it worth the wait.

gODD LUCK HOPE IT WORKS.
please rate.
