try to connect other device on the same port. if it is working then your pen drive is defective. if any of the usb port is not working then u need to replace the mother board. if other device is not working on the same port then u need to replace the USB port.
This not the problem with the pen drive but with your USB port. Check and make sure you are connecting the pendrive to a USB 2.0v. if you connect to older USB port then your data transfer would get effected. If still you are connecting it to USB 2.0v only then try to un-install the ports in Device manager and restart the PC once done the windows will automatically install the USB ports again and this will solve the problem.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE USING USB KEYBOARD BE CAREFUL NOT TO UNINSTALL THE USB PORTS OR YOUR SYSTEM MAY NOT ACCEPT THE KEYBOARD SOMETIMES. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Files on a flash drive canbe corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly. Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon andthen click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flashdrive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove. To restore the flash drive to working order you need to format the flash drive, BUT you willlose the data stored on the flash drive. if its the contacts in the usb port, you can just use another port, but if its in the pen drive its self there is no way of fixing it unless you or some one you might know is really good with micro soldering and can replace the 1 contact or all of them at the same time.
