If you go to www.coleman.com Use the product services link for product manuals. You can then choose tents. Or you can use this link:

SOURCE: No Instructions
Peg out the "brown" ground sheet of the inner tent and hold it up like a standard ridge tent.
Put the two shorter upright poles on the inside of the compartment (with something under the feet to prevent damage to the ground sheet). Put the 40mm tubes on the spike that pokes through, and then put the ridge pole on the outside.
Everything should then hold in place while you put the fly sheet over the top with the 2 longer poles at the front.......
tip - line up the seam on the fly sheet with the front of the inner tent as you peg it out....

SOURCE: erect a tent
start with the two longest poles and feed them through (every pole is colour coded so you can't go wrong), that will give you the main shape. peg each corner, once done start with back door section and feed the shorter ones through the loops when done peg it down. then do the same with the other two sleeping sections. finally the front door section (the black/grey coded pole) the pole has a curve which positions in the middle, get that pegged down and put the guide ropes in and it tight. then you can fine tune the rest of the tent sections, once you have everything how you want it, then put guide ropes in. it takes 15/20mins with two people to get everything up, after that it takes 15/20mins for one person to fine tune. hope this helps, if this is your first time putting up the hartford xl it'll take you about 1hr 15mins cause it did me. but it gets quicker with practice.

1. Usually you can go to the website of the manufacturer and get a sheet of instructions, or you can get them from a dealer.
2. Try it. You might find that it is obvious once you get it spread out. I bought one with no instructions once, and there was only one step that took a while to figure out.
3. Try a friend or neighbour who is an experienced camper. They might be able to figure it out pretty quickly.

SOURCE: no instructions giving to erect
I bought one of these yeaterday. The instructions - for what they are worth are sewn inside the carry bag. So I decided to put it up today. Not as easy as i would have thought, but then this is my first tent of this size. ( saw a nice Outwell Montana 4 in Millets for 225.00 which would have been my tent of choice). But at half price in Argos I couldn't argue that one.
So to put it up.....
lay out the fly sheet in the approximate final position. put poles in as per instructions ..blue to back red to middle and blue to front.. across the tent. ( the pole guides are all colour coded.) Make sure poles are in pins at the base of fly sheet (bending gently to attach). these are attached by the black elastic straps.put in porch pole, put in front to back poles left and right.
Anchor back of tent temporarily with pegs. Lift from porch forward to lift tent. Temporarily peg base of poles, straighten out so that the straps inside tent are approximately perpendicular to each other. Move poles to tension flysheet and tighten anchor points on flysheet using straps buckles to pull flysheet down as far as possible ( to help prevent draughts)., anchor guy lines when happy with final position.
Put up inside ground sheet and attach to points on inside of flysheet. put up rooms starting with the rear yellow hook and work around to front red hook.
These instructions were not specifically provided but this was our first try and probably could be improved on. It requires 2 people for speed if nothing else.
