soap not dissolving, dishes not clean, less then 50 loads washed

If the detergent door is open, and the soap is wet and stuck in the compartment, I had this problem. After a while, the door wouldn't open at all. My machine was several years old, and the dispenser unit had to be replaced (under warranty, that should be a free repair).

Suggest a new solution for this problem
