If the power supply has been burnt, individual electronic components likely failed due to a power surge or other issue, and you may have experienced a short within the unit. Unfortunately, due to advanced difficulty and low cost, power supplies generally are not repaired, they are replaced instead.

My Dell optiplex gx 270 tower's chipset heats up and system shuts down and my friend's gx270 mother board is burnt due to same reasons

check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

check you CPU make sure its securely seated and has thermal grease might be getting to hot

another possible reason could be a memory dump you might be running to many programs at the one time putting to much strain on the CPU central processing unit

hope this helps

I am looking for a schematic for a Dell Optiplex GX280 power supply. The supply is model HP-U2106F3.

I just replaced my GX280 power supply (mini-tower) with the following 400W for $30.

The only place I can think you will find an actual schematic for the PSU is from the manufacturer.

From my experience orange power button usually means 2 possible issues. One is motherboard especially if it is model gx270 or power supply issue. Unless you really know what you are doing it will kinda be hard to determine. You can open the case and look on the motherboard to see is there any capacitors that look cracked or bloated(not perfectly round) which would indicate motherboard issue. I would take it to a pc repair shop if it is worth it and have the test it. Good luck.

Dell optiplex 270 startup

sounds like power supply failure. You can try removing all of the ram and pressing the power button again. If nothing happens, its either a bad power supply or a bad motherboard.

Not turning on there's only beep sound coming out

Bad power supply, these are case specific but if you cut a hole in the back you can make a standard power supply fit in its place. Dell used 150-250 power supplies and they go bad regularly.

Will a dell gx280 motherboard fit into a gx260 (dell) case?

If it is a slim gx260 case, it might not. If it is the wide case, it will, but the two motherboards have different power supplies. You will need to use a gx280 power supply to power it on. However, you can use a gx270 motherboard in a gx260 case without changing the power supply.

Hope this helps!
