    the same problem

  • epboyd Jul 07, 2008

I have the same problem. The tv kept shutting down and then it finally would not turn on. Now, when I attempt to turn it on the LAMP and Program lights blink simultaneously. When this happens I can only turn the tv off by unplugging it. The owner's maunal also suggested that the fan may be malfunctioning. It has also been suggested that the bulb needs to be replaced.

    • While watching the TV it suddenly went black and the LED lights on the front lower panel started to blink. I now can't turn it off without unplugging it.

    • What's wrong?

  • sierrdx Jul 13, 2008

I have the same problem but it only use to happen once in a while. Unplugging the TV about 5 or 6 times normally would take care of it. Eventually I could not get it to power on at all so I replaced the bulb but still had same problem. I left it alone for one full day and it turned on but then next problem is back again. I am very frustrated. I know its not the lamp and I can hear the fan turn on so what is the deal?

  • wschimberg Jul 25, 2008

TV will not turn on. The blue power light is flashing.

  • Anonymous Aug 22, 2008

same as the others, power and lamp led flash togehter. So is it the fan????

  • joko1425 Aug 26, 2008

I have a 52z575 and have the same problem. I opened up the back panel and I can see the fan turn on, so on mine it's not the fan (it's pretty much directly behind the bulb btw). Suspecting one of the boards inside fried or something. So has anyone figured out how to fix this problem?

  • Harley212 Oct 24, 2008

Same issue. TV turns off, Blue light blinks, red light blinks. I wait a few minutes, hit the power button again and it turns on. Sometimes it stays on, sometimes it turns off again. Anyone know what is going on here? Fan sounds like it is working and the bulb is obviously working.

  • angienor Nov 17, 2008

The fan is on the inside of the tv chasis on the back inside the small door located on the right when looking at the tv on the front.

Yellow blinking light . what does it mean

A blinking yellow for this model indicates the TV is too hot, unplug & allow 30-45 min to cool before re-plugging .
OR: lamp not installed or lamp door not closed. there is a lamp door switch that may not be closing, simulating door not closed

LED Indications

The front panel Status LED provides an indication of

the set's operation and the possible cause of a malfunction.

If an abnormal condition is indicated, perform the

Self Diagnostics procedure.

Self Diagnostics

To activate, press the front panel <ACTIVITY> &<CH

??> buttons at the same time and hold for 5 seconds.

The STATUS LED will then flash denoting a two digit

code.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the

MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2

second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the

(ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED

will flash two times, pause, and then flash three

times.

Table 2-2: LED Indications

Error Codes, descriiptions and the most likely cause of

the error are listed in Table 2-3.

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down." The LED

will probably be indicating an abnormal

condition. If the TV is switched Off, AC is

removed, or a System Reset is performed, the

code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

See the Error Code Log to retrieve a history of

errors.

Note: Use the front panel buttons, not the remote

control.

Note: If there is no response, the front panel may be

locked by a V-Chip setting. To unlock, press

and hold <ACTIVITY> on the front panel for

8 seconds.

Sansung model 56 Inch hpl5663w first had a buzzing sound the tv repair man said it might be a color wheel but the tv played well except for the low buzzing sound . then one night the picture went black and...

Hi Charles,

Sorry for the late reply, I'm offline upon purchasing my service.
You have said that you can hear a low buzzing sound before the unit gone to subsequent shutdown and the lamp blinks green(meaning that the unit try to turn on the lamp for consecutive attempts but not generally mean that the lamp itself is faulty.) and the temp led light come on.

As a matter of fact all the information you have mentioned linked to the symptoms you've encountered right now. A low buzzing sound might be caused by faulty FAN inside the unit that trigger the error code (blinking of the standby/temp led light) and turns off the unit automatically due to thermal protection circuit.
However, the technician might be true also that the buzzing sound came from the faulty color wheel. To confirm it, you have to verify where the buzzing sound came from. Color wheel is in front of the lamp assembly. Faulty color wheel can produce the same symptoms you've encountered right now but most of the time, it shows 3 blinking led light at the front panel (Timer, Lamp, standby/Temp).

I would advice you to open the back cover of your unit, fixed the lamp door safety switch with the tape to make it in closed position( if it is on open position the unit will not power up), and then turn on the unit and observe the fans if will spin or not, and check also where the buzzing sound came from before the unit gone to shutdown.
I've suspected that the fault came from the fan based on the led light flashes. Please let me know what you will discover after following the steps above to verify where the exact fault came from. Also, let me know the exact status of the led light at the front panel, (Timer, Lamp, standby/Temp ), which of them lit solid/blinking, it will help us to narrow the caused of the symptoms.

The lamp LED blinks 4 times and repeats, I replaced the lamp but the lamp led is still blinking 4 times and repeats and I have no picture

Hi,
4 times blinking light indicates problem with exhaust fan in KDS-R50XBR1 and possible causes are as follows:
-Fan 1-4 power is not supplied. (ASU board)
-Fan connector is not attached securely.
-Fan caught wires or harnesses.
Please check exhaust fan in tv, it is located at lower right of tv looking at rear of tv.
Thanks.

I have a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 that has no picture. When I turn on the TV, the green Power/Standby LED light blinks for about 30 seconds, then turns red and blinks five times. The Power/Standby LED repeats...

  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen A2 slightly.

Sony kp-65wv600 projection tv error code. My tv blinks 7 times.

Hi,
The Standby LED blinks when the TV is turned on, then shuts off when the picture is displayed. If the LED blinks continuously, this may indicate that the TV requires service. Before getting the TV serviced, try power resetting the TV and factory resetting. Try the below steps also: Connect the TV to a different wall outlet and check if it helps. This is to check if the issue is with the Power. Disconnect the TV from the Power Strip or the Surge Protector and connect it directly to the Wall outlet and check if it helps. To Power Reset the TV, disconnect the Power cord for a short period of time (approximately 1 minute). Then, reconnect the Power cord and power ON the TV. To factory reset the TV, turn it ON. Then while holding down the RESET button on the Remote Control, press the Power button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn OFF and then turn ON again. Then release the RESET button to complete the reset procedure. If the issue persists, service may be required.
Good Luck!!

I have a Mitsubishi WD-62525. This morning my TV would not turn on so I pressed the rest button. After the Timer light stopped blinking I pressed power. I could hear the fans start than a somewhat loud...

the status light blinking red means a fan (the unit hs 4 of them) has failed. you need to determine which one. use the self diagnostic function:
Error Code Operational Check
Note:
The TV must be in “Shut Down” and not manually switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational
Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to “12” No Error.
Press the front panel “DEVICE” and “MENU” buttons at the same time, and hold for 5 seconds to
activate the Error Code Operational Check. The LED will then flash denoting a two digit Code.
Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.
• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.
• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.
• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.
Example: If the Error Code is “32”, the LED will flash three times, pause, and then flash two times.
• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

and read the code.
35= Chassis Fan failure
36 =Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure
37= Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure

My tv is blinking red in the power indicator 4 times on my KDS-50A2000

I had the same problem. Red LED blinking 4 times. This error means that one of the fans is NOT spinning! To check.... unplug the tv.... turn the TV around to a well lighted area so that you can see the fans in the back... plug the TV in and turn it on. Watch for the fans in the back... and see if they are spinning. If not... that is the reason why the TV will not turn on! In my case, the fan next to the lamp was stuck for some reason. I removed the the cover of the TV from the back... and cleaned the fan, made sure all connectors to it were properly connected... and viola! The TV is perfect again! Enjoy!

Tv keeps turning off?

cutta, you will most often hear a click on boot then the fans start up and lamp will then fire. The picture will start to show up....at what point does it shut off? and do you hear a click when the tv is turning off? Is it the complete tv shutting down, fans and everything that turns off? Do you see any lights on the the front panel "POWER", "STATUS" or "LAMP", what are they doing? If you see a Power, Status or Lamp light after it shuts off the below are what they mean if there is an issue. POWER - STATUS - LAMP - CONDITION/ISSUE: Off - Yellow - Off - Temp. high/dirty filter/excess room temp Off - Off - Yellow - 4000 hrs. Lamp usage warning Off - Off - Blink Yellow - Lamp Cover open Off - Blink Yellow - Off - Air Filter Cover open Off - Off - Red - Lamp failure (failed to turn On or broken) Off - Blink Red - Off - Fan Has Stopped Off - Red - Off - Circuit failure (short) or DVI cable disconnected If you want to check for the last "Error Code", after you first turn the TV on, by pressing the front panel ?DEVICE? and ?MENU? buttons at the same time and holding them for 5 seconds, it activates the Error Code Mode. The ?Power LED Light? blinks/flashes (1/2 sec delay) and then flashes again denoting a two digit Error Code indicating no problem or an error has occured since the last Initalization. i.e. "Power light" blinks 3 times (1/2 second delay) and then blinks 4 times then 1 sec delay and repeats a few times. This would mean "Error 34 - Lamp abnormality". See below for error codes..... Error Code - Description or issue 12 - No Error detected, check Power Supply 32 - Lamp Cover is open 33 - Air Filter Cover is open 34 - Lamp abnormality 36 - Light Engine (DMD or LAMP Fan stopped) 37 - Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped 38 - Lamp temperature high 39 - DMD temperature high 41 - Short is detected 44 - DVI cable between FMT & Engine disconnected. Sorry for the long answer but it was an open ended question.
