Question about LG LDF6810ST Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Poor drying, mold building up in the tub. The condensing drying system is not working well. I pulled the unit out and removed a panel on the left side (facing washer). Saw that the plastic box that appears to be set up for moist air removal and vents to the tub had considerable mold in it at the top of one of the passage ways. Looked like it might be blocking air flow. Could this be a cause of poor drying? Can this unit be removed and cleaned? Also soap isn't dissolving. Bad board controlling the timing of the opening of the soap dispenser?

Hi.

Poor drying is often caused by a faulty moisture sensor. If there is mold covering the sensor housing , that can be cause for the problem.

Regarding the door detergent drawer problem, that is often caused by a defective door latch switch, rather than by a defective timer board. If machine is cycling timer is OK.

Here schematics and parts breakdown.

The detergent drawer lock is tested reading Ohms between the contact at the door switch and the timer board. This will tell you if the circuit is open or closed.
Using the link above you can locate and purchase the replacement parts needed.

Great advice. Tested and did find mold on the sensor housing. The overall system isn't great anyway since there's no actual heater unit and the drying cycle relies on the heat of the dishes for drying, but it's definitely improved. Thanks.

Getting Mold out of my RV after sitting all winter

I'm not a mold certified expert, and by law, cannot advise to any mold treatment. What I have seen the restoration companies do to remediate any type of mildew related or any other of such odor causing STUFF, is to have a dehumidifier duct to the room or building. Drying the air will in turn dry all that is within the structure, walls, floors,ect... Then they would pipe in dry and conditioned air in place of the dehumidified air that is been removed. Like pulling moisture out of a box, and supplying cool, dry air back inside. Just what I've seen and not my advise. Hope this helps!

DRYER GENERAL ELECTRIC SUPER CAPACITY. APPARENTLY IT IS WORKING BECAUSE IT HEAT BUT THE CLOTHES ARE WET

Hello,

A leading cause of poor drying results in that type of dryer is lint build up in the blower/lint filter housing. That build up will restrict air flow through the dryer causing very long dry times. To repair that the front panel would need to be removed and clean all the lint build up from that housing and blower wheel area.

To remove the front panel DISCONNECT POWER TO THE DRYER, on the bottom of the dryer inside of the door rim will be 2 phillips headed screws, remove those and lift off the top. At the top corners where the front panel connects to the cabinet will be 2 more phillips headed screws remove those and the front panel will pull off and out of the way. With the front panel off the blower housing will be in the lower left side clean lint from it and also the sure to clean all the lint from the lint filter housing which will be attached to the back side of the front panel. In addation to cleaning that area be sure to check and clean the exhaust duct tube as well.

Moldy door gasket, smelly clothes

Hi,
Mold growth is a common problem due to tight seals and poor drainage.
Pull back the rubber or plastic around the tub or basin to reveal the problem. You should also check your detergent dispenser as this is another common area for mold growth. Remove any visible mold. You can use a solution of water and dish detergent or bleach (1 part bleach to 10 parts water). You could also use bleach wipes to do this depending on how stubborn the mold is.
Because of the set-up of the washer, mold can also tend to grow in pipes, traps, and outside the drum where you can't see it.
You can run an empty load on the hottest water setting with 1 cup or more of bleach. Run an empty load on the hottest water setting with 1 cup or more of vinegar. Use a product designed to attack build-up from detergents and fabric softeners. Call a repair man to service the parts of the machine you can't see or attempt to do it yourself
However Mold needs moisture to grow. Leave your washer door and detergent dispenser cover open in between loads to allow for complete drying. This will dramatically decrease or eliminate the problem.
2. clean the machine monthly to stay away from the problem.
3. Switch to powder and/or low-sudsing detergent.

My new Kenmore Elite panel ready dishwasher leaves wet

You need only enough space so the door does not rub when opened. If the unit is too far back under the cabinet the countertop (if wood) can be damaged by the exhausting moisture. The dry feature on the newer models is just as you describe. The moisture from the hotter dishes evaporates and is condensed on the cooler walls and door of the wash tub. Dry dishes wet tub is normal.

Leaking central A/C unit (Lennox G40uh)

Make sure your condensate drain is clear of algae and other things that can clog the drain line plumbing. This can also lead to hard to control mold and mildew problems inside. Take a "wet or dry" shop vac to the end of the condensate drain line and vacuum out whatever is in the line until it is clear. The drain should flow well and not a occasional drip.

To control the build up of this gunk, about once a month, pour a cup of white vinegar into the drain line near the beginning of the line and the acidity of the vinegar will kill and prevent the regrowth of the drain clogging gunk without harming the environment outside.

If you still have problems, find and reduce sources of humidity inside the building. If the AC is too large for the building, it can fail to run long enough to extract moisture. If the blowers are partly in a hot space and partly in the cool room, the colder setting can cause the humidity to condensate on it as it does naturally in the AC unit and in our weather.

Hope this helps you get started. If not, consult your local HVAC company. See if you have an ARS service near you.
