Question about HP Wireless Optical Mouse

Open Question

I have mouse model number Mg-0637T and keyboard kg-0636 along with the receiver Rg-0638. i plug the receiver in to the usb port and the blue light flashes 3 times then nothing. the mouses red lazer light is on and when i put my finger under it the light gets brighter so it has to be something to do with the connection to the receiver or the computer. could you please assist me in some way?

SOURCE: some letters can't be typed

You need to replace the whole keyboard since the 4 letters is not working at all. You cannot change only 4 letter keys from your laptop.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

Yes of course it has connector. There are two types of connection, wired and wireless connection. Since your mouse is wireless, it needs a bluetooth connection between your computer. Make sure that the computer you will be using has a bluetooth capable function.

Welcome to Fixya. Unfortunately HP don't sell a separate receiver. If you need a receiver you need to purchase it as bundle. The receiver that comes with the mouse and keyboard are made specially for that model. If youre looking for a receiver it would be better to buy a bundle.

There are 4 possible ways in my awareness...
Method 1: Resynchronize your device with the receiver To resynchronize the mouse or the keyboard with the receiver, follow these steps. Note When you synchronize the mouse or the keyboard with the receiver, put the device near the receiver and put any other wireless keyboards and mouse at least 6 feet away.
  1. Press the button on the receiver, and then verify that the light on the receiver starts to blink.

    Note Some newer Microsoft devices are permanently bound to their receiver and cannot be reset. If your device does not have a button, skip to Method 2.
  2. If a dialog box appears on the screen in several seconds, follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Otherwise, go to the next step.
  3. Press and release the Connect Channel button on the bottom of the mouse or the keyboard.
  4. Check the green light on the receiver. A steady green light means the synchronization was successful. If the problem persists, try steps 1 through 4 again.
  5. For the Wireless Notebook mouse: This issue can occur if the micro-switch on the bottom of the mouse is not released. Use a pin or a pen to try to release the button if it is depressed.

Do not put the mouse or the receiver near any electrical devices, especially transmitters such as cordless or cellular telephones or other wireless mouse devices or receivers. A distance of at least 8 to 12 inches is recommended. Do not put the mouse or the receiver on metallic surfaces or objects, especially long metallic rails or cables. We recommend that you keep the mouse and the keyboard a minimum of 3 feet from metallic objects.

Cannot get mouse to work


1.
If the underside of the mouse has an on/off switch, make sure to set the switch to the "On" position.
2.
Restart the computer. This can resolve the problem, at least temporarily, so that other troubleshooting steps can be applied.
3.
Move the mouse or keyboard closer to the receiver
The receiver is the hardware that receives the wireless signals from the keyboard and mouse and communicates the data to the computer. Most receivers connect to a USB port, either directly or by a cable, but a few types of receivers connect to the PS/2 ports.
. Make sure that the keyboard and the mouse are within 100 centimeters (39 inches) of the receiver. If the receiver is attached to a cord, position it so that it is on the same level surface, close to the mouse and keyboard.

4. Replace the batteries with a fresh set of alkaline batteries and make sure they are correctly installed. If the mouse or keyboard is not working, then replace the batteries, even if the mouse/keyboard software indicate the batteries still have a charge.
Remove the battery cover to access the batteries. For keyboards, the battery access cover is found on the underside of the keyboard. When replacing the batteries look for the positive symbol (a plus sign +) imprinted near the battery compartment or battery cover. Make sure the positive end of the battery is oriented to the positive side of the compartment.

5.
If you have a USB receiver, unplug the USB receiver, wait 10 seconds, and then insert it into another USB port - preferably into a USB port that is closer to the mouse and keyboard. For example, if the USB receiver was plugged into a USB port on the back of the computer, unplug it and plug it into a front USB port.
6.
Resync the wireless keyboard and mouse connections.

Resync the keyboard and mouse connections for receivers with a connect button .
Resynchronizing the keyboard and/or mouse causes the devices to reconnect to the receiver using new identification numbers.
NOTE: The following connection sequence must be completed within 60 seconds. If the sequence is not done in 60 seconds, start over.

I HAVE A NEXXTECH MODEL;NWKBMCB . WIRELESS MOUSE. I DONT HAVE A DISC WHAT DO I DO?


This will help you in your problem. 1. Turn on your pc 2. Installed the Mouse Driver on your system pc. (NOTE! if it has a CD or DVD Disk included on it ). (But if the product don't have a CD or DVD disk, you can proceed to the 3rd step.3. Plug the receiver to the USB port on your system unit.
4. Plug the battery to the mouse. (follow the instruction for the the battery. cause it contain + sign and - negative sign.
5. After doing the procedure from 1 to 4.
6. Restart your PC (cause some of the system unit need to be restart the system in order to recognize the fresh hardware plug on it).
7. Your Done

Does each mouse have a connector to pc? I have an HP @MG-0637T that was given to me without any connection (usb port). Does it require one?


Yes of course it has connector. There are two types of connection, wired and wireless connection. Since your mouse is wireless, it needs a bluetooth connection between your computer. Make sure that the computer you will be using has a bluetooth capable function.

Most likely you need to re-sync the device

  1. Resynchronizing the keyboard and/or mouse causes the devices to reconnect to the receiver using new identification numbers. Use the following steps to resync the devices:
    NOTE: The following connection sequence must be completed within 60 seconds. If the sequence is not done in 60 seconds, start over.
    1. With the receiver plugged in, press and hold the Connect button on the receiver until the activity LED flashes.
      NOTE: Some HP computers have receivers built into the front of the computer; such as TouchSmart 700 Series PCs and Digital Entertainment Centers. Look for a small connect button built into the case. If you have a TouchSmart 500 or 800 Series PC, the receiver plugs into a USB port on the underside of the case and does not have a connect button - skip this step.       NOTE: If problems persist after resetting AND there is another wireless keyboard or mouse near, use these steps again, holding down the keyboard or mouse button for ten seconds. Doing so may give the keyboard or mouse a new ID number in case the other keyboard or mouse was using the same number.
    3. Press the Connect button on the receiver again until the activity light flashes.
    4. Press and hold the recessed button on the underside of the mouse until the activity light on the receiver stops flashing. Make sure the connect button does not stick in the depressed position.
  2. If your mouse and keyboard have a USB receiver, unplug the USB receiver, wait 10 seconds, and then insert into another USB port - preferably into a USB port that is closer to the mouse and keyboard. For example, if the USB receiver was plugged into a USB port on the back of the computer, unplug it and plug it into a front USB port.

Wireless keyboard and mouse not working, battery in receiver?


The receiver should not have a battery. It gets its power from the USB port. Try uninstalling both keyboard and mouse via (Control Panel...Device Manager) and reinstalling them. Sometimes the drivers get corrupted and reinstalling them will fix that. Also there are on/off switches on the mouse and maybe the keyboard. Check that someone hasn't turned them off to save batteries when not in use.

Are the batteries good?
Normal 0 Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start flashing.
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the receiver.

Otherwise, go to the next step. 3. Press and release the Connect Channel button on the bottom of your mouse or keyboard. 4. Check the green light on the receiver. A steady green light means the synchronization was successful. If the problem persists, try steps 1 through 4 again.

Clean the mouse lens loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); This problem may occur if you are using an optical or laser mouse and the lens on the mouse is dirty. To clean the lens of an optical or laser mouse, follow these steps: 1. Use a dry cloth to clean the bottom surface of the mouse. 2. Check to see whether the mouse functions correctly. 3. If you see dust on the bottom of the mouse, use a can of pressurized de-ionized air to blow away the dust on the lens. 4. Check to see whether the mouse functions correctly. 5. If the pressurized air canister is not available, blow dry air on the lenses by using your mouth one or two times. 6. Check to see whether the mouse functions correctly. 7. If these steps do not resolve the problem, use a cotton bud to clean the lens without scratching it.

Optical mouse


Normal 0 Try disconnecting the Mouse Receiver from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the Mouse Receiver to the USB port, do so and it should work.
