Video no longer transferable to PC

One of the most important things for transfering files from a camera to a computer is the software installed on the computer. Perhaps you did forget you installed this when your camera was new. The software came with the camera.
Try reinstalling the software that came with you camera, or us an external memory card reader. You don't need extra software to transfer the file from the card to your computer, but you still need software to play the video. You also could try to install a free video player like gom player. There are more free players. There are so many different video formats, so chose one that can play lots of different video formats, if you don't have the Sony CD or DVD.

No dialogue box

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

When you connect the MP3 player to yourcomputer with the supplied USB cable then computer detects the player as anexternal storage device or a Removable disk, you can then view the folder onyour MP3 player. Open the music folder and create a new folder on the playerexactly the same way you create a folder on your computer's hard drive. Toorganise your music, make a folder name with the name of the music album andplace the album's MP3 files in this folder, then copy the mp3 files from thecomputer into this folder.
You will then be able to select the music you want to play by the music albumfolder. To delete a filefrom your MP3 player, connect the supplied USB cable to your player and thenplug it into the USB port of your computer.
The computer will detect your player then click on this device to view thefiles, you can then click on the music file to highlight the file and thenpress the Del key to delete the file off your MP3 player. Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX.If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatiblevideo file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format thatyour MP3 player uses.Click on this link for instructions on converting videofiles for MP3 players :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r5874192-play_videos_mp3_playerMP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable tothe MP3 player and the computer.

Help me use my usb

First of all, thank you very much Ellen for choosing FIXYA today for your online technical support needs.

Many camera phones simply require you to plug one end of the USB cord into the phone and the other end into your computer's USB port, then turn on the phone.

Once the phone is on and the computer says the device is ready to use, then you should be able to see it on your computer listed as one of the removable storage devices.

If you use a Windows system, just click on the MY COMPUTER icon on your desktop or on the START MENU to see a list of all the drives and storage devices currently connected to your computer.

Look in the section there titled DEVICES WITH REMOVABLE STORAGE or something similar to that. You should see your phone listed there in that section. Then just click on that icon to open up the folder in your phone's memory which contains all the photos.

Once that folder is open, you should see all the image files which are stored in your phone memory. To transfer them to your computer, normally you can just COPY and PASTE them all back to your DESKTOP or to any other folder on your computer the same as you would for any other kind of file.

To COPY a file just RIGHT CLICK on it with the mouse, then select COPY from the drop down menu which appears.

To PASTE it somewhere else just move your mouse pointer to an empty spot on your desktop or in a different folder on your computer and then RIGHT CLICK again, then select the PASTE option from the drop down menu.

Remember that you can also COPY and PASTE a buch of files at the same time by first LEFT CLICKING on a spot near the files you want to copy and then while holding down the left mouse button, move your mouse pointer. This creates a selection box with which you can encircle all the files you want to copy at one time. When your selection box includes and highlights all those files you want to copy just let go of the left mouse button.

Now just RIGHT click on one of the highlighted files contained in your selection box and select COPY. This will now copy ALL the highlighted files so that you can transfer them all at the same time. Then just PASTE them somewhere on your computer as before.

I truly hope that was helpful to you.

Good luck and take care.

Joe.

HI,

Are you sure that 240 file is a photo, because there are chance of it to be a video or supporting files corresponding to device,

For eg, if you use the memory card in cellular phones and if you use certain program in your phone it creates a custom file with own number to save the thumbnail information of the photo and these file may be copied along with your original files..

Have you checked, whether any photos is missing? If its so, if you feel that you miss 240 photos, then there are chance of it to be photo..
Else it should be some temporary file created by the device in support to the photo taken..

If you feel that you miss 240 photos which was in memory card, then please leave me comment stating the model and the make of the device in which the memory card was used..We will provide further assistance
