Battery required for colibri lasertron lighter

This lighter would normally use a CR1240E-T lithium 3 volt battery. If you still have an old flat battery, it can be charged if you know what you are doing. OK, so you don't have an old battery, so there are 2 types of battery that you can use to sort the problem. A lot of advice out there suggests using a CR1225, with a little packing to make up for the lack of thickness, this I have found barely works, as the capacity is so low to start with. And now for the real solution........ I use two silver oxide 391 batteries (11.6mm X 2.1mm @ 1.55volt each). With bits of paper to insulate the positive poles from shorting, and more paper to insulate the screw down cover from touching the top battery. The whole thing takes only a couple of mins, and you'll have months worth of bright red light and powerful sparks. Good luck John P. sylvie44@btinternet.com

I have a cigarette lighter from the 2000 Olympic games but it will not spark. Can you help? Kym

Thanks for contacting FixYa.
First check your fuses. If that isn't the problem try this: take a small flat head screw driver and gently bend the two prongs out a little bit. They are used to hold the lighter in place so that it will operate properly. If your lighter works with the key off remove the fuse first. As for replacing the lighter there are two wires connected on the back side you'll need to remove them. On some lighters you will have to unscrew the outer body to remove the lighter others have a nut that has to be removed. Access to the back side of the lighter is always a pain and how you gain access depends on the make, model and year. I hope this helps you.

Pocketwatch runs fast

Such a fast gaining usually is caused by dirty or magnetized hairspring, resulting in uneven coil amplitude (some of the coil rows are sticking together or touching each other). This causes the watch to run unbelievably fast.
To get the watch properly fixed you need to give to the watchmaker.
Alternetively; you can fix it yourself, but it will not last long.
For this you will need:
Case opener,
Dust blower (resin ball with nozzle),
Lighter fluid (ZIPPO),
Dropper (like one in eyedrops package).
Do as follows:
Open watch caseback,
Check for the fastest moving part in watch movement and you will see the hairspring fitted on it (pulsing outwards and inwards very fast).
Fill the VERY CLEAN dropper with lighter fluid.
Put ONE drop of lighter fluid on hairspring (DO NOT TOUCH IT),
Wait for a 10 seconds,
Dry out the lighter fluid with dust blower by vigorously squeezing it and pointing the nozzle on to hairspring from approx. 2-3 inches away.
Lay the watch on the table (dial down) and cover it with a clean, dustless cup. Leave for 15 minutes.
Fit the caseback on and enjoy your watch again.
Do not forget to rate, please.

Colibri lighter

Usualy there are screw at the bottom.
If there are no screws at all. that means the lighter is assembled in 'click-on' way and you have to use your imaginary engineering skills.
Start with a part which looks attached to lighter the last.
