Most probable cause is the belt between the motor and the drum pulley. If your machine is still under warranry, you have a case...
If not call a serviceman and make sure he/she has experience with this problem..
The original part is not adequate...
Good luck....Nomess

Burning smell

There's a number of reasons to smell burning after a washing machine cycle. It's a 220V appliance, so if it short's out it will cause problems. It's more likely the motor being overloaded making it hot and causing the electrical burning smell, or a short that's overheating something electrical. Check to see if the belt that spins the whole barrel is melted or worn anywhere. Inspect the wiring that's attached to the system that engages spin, which is different from agitation by the big tower.
If these both check out, an trip to the Maytag Man might have to fix overloading motors or relays, or switches, if anything turns up in your search for the source of the electrical smoke. Ozone is what you are smelling, FYI.

How to replace the belt on a Samsung J845 frnt loader washing machine

If you stand in FRONT of the washer, leaning over the top, the drive wheel is underneath the main drive motor, on the RIGHT hand side.  Loop the belt over the drive motor wheel, then over the main pully, and it should be good to go!

Washing Machine Smell and Stopped Working

thatss what it sounds like to me the motor simply turned off on overload( giving that electrical, almost burnt rubber smell.) either that or it was overloaded as well as overworked. i wouldnt see any reason for concern, unless was happenig on regular basis

Plastic pulley melting

Whatever the pulley is attached to has seized. Either the water pump or tub drive, or something else has stopped spinning. The belt continued to run because the motor kept pulling it, and the friction from the belt melted the plastic pulley. Hopefully its the water pump, as its the most inexpensive. You should change the belt along with this fix, it has also got hot and probable will not last as long as it should.
