Not much you can do with the old power brick to check it. They are all usually sealed in there boxes. Yousure the supply is bad? How did you get to that conclusion. The audio is just usually just an external set of speakers inside the monitor. However if they are boosted then an amp may be inside the monitor. taking power from the supply brick. Is that what your conclusion of a bad supply is from?

Bought a second hand Sceptre x24wg-naga, now has has sreen on sustain failure, When powered up the power remains on but picture is only on for a few seconds before going out while still showing power...

It can be component (caps) failure in the power supply, that will be the first palce to look. As you can see in my failed LCD TV and monitors albums (you can se SCEPTRE albums).
Worst case will be bad lamps assembly due to poor sodlering works.

Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide:

Learn about bad caps:

Capacitors kit: he can make you a set of caps for you.

Or just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
Please leave rating if it helps.

My speakers have very low volume. I have everything set to the highest level and you can just hear them. What to do?

test the audio amplifier with a test signal starting from the output to the preamp and SIF. check the voltage to the audio output IC , if low check the power supply.
check the speakers .

My LG Flatron 1710S computer screen doesn't have any power. Sometimes the power light will start flashing but most of the time it stays blank.

This is a common issue, the power supplies in LCD monitors fail prematurely. (if your monitor has an internal power supply) , Double check all your power connections, but it sounds like the internal supply is toast, (its a simple capacitor replacement to fix, but cost to do this job seems to always outweigh a new monitor purchase) sorry to be the bearer of bad news.If you find my answer helpful albeit poor news, please use the thumbs up feedback.

Not everything powers up when I turn on my disassembled computer

remove first the power suppy. if it is 24pin power suppy, shorten pin 15/16. that is the black and green,
if the fan of power supply rotates, then the P.S. is ok.
then return it to motherboard. check your connection with the motherboard power switch.
good luck

Dead power supply power across the bridge 700 volts across the main capacitor indicating smps is filtering

sounds like you have a dead switching suppy. On these sets the best way to trouble shoot the power suppy is disconnect the horizontsl output and measure it Is it shorted yes replace the fly and the transistor and resolder several cold joints in the horizontal drive curcuit as well as in the main switching supply. If the HOT not shorted then your gonna need a service manual unless you shotgun the repair. Good Luck
