Hi, clean the coil with your garden hose and spray nozzle, but be careful not to bend the aluminum fins. I have never had to use the acid coil cleaner, all it does is make it shine!! I have cleaned coils all of my life to lower the head pressure, just spend some time doing it. Make sure you get most all of the debri's. He must be talking about the contactor contacts being corroded. Kill the power, and use a piece of sanding cloth to clean them up. You can do all of this your self.

My inside and outside unit turn on fine, out side fan and compressor running good, inside blowing cool air, about four minutes after that, out side unit shutoff, no humming, nothing.

Are you heating or cooling? When the outdoor unit shuts off how does it come back on. Or are you saying that the outdoor unit is short cycling off and on

I have a Rudd model #uand 060daz the problem is it keeps triping and has to be reset to often what causes this any help would be great

Common problems:

1. Outdoor coil is dirty
The condenser coil wraps completely around a Ruud condenser. It is behind the fins you see facing downward on the case. You can see the inside of the coil looking through the fan blade on top of the unit. You can wash this coil out with a hose and sprayer through the outer fins. It just takes a little longer. The other way to wash it out is to take the four screws out holding the fan shroud on top of the unit. Gently lay the fan motor, blade and shroud over the cover that covers the compressor section. Note the wires to the fan are still wired in, so don't try to take the entire shroud off the unit or you will pull the wires loose. Once you can get into the unit with the fan out of the way, wash through the coil from the inside out, forcing the dirt, etc. through the outer fins. Washing the coil out will help the unit run efficiently and cooler.
2. Your breaker could be weak. If you have an amp meter or can borrow one, you should check the total amp draw on the unit. Look on the unit information tag and it will give you "RLA" or running load amps. Your unit should be running around 10% less than RLA. If your amp draw is good, and the breakers keep tripping , you will need to replace your breakers. You can check your amperage at the circuit breakers by clamping the amp meter around one of the wires that goes to either breaker. Hope this helps. Mark

My ruud serial number 5427 M1496 07992 Model UAKA-024 Jaz Is not blowing cold air. I started the unit inside the house then went outside to see if the fan is working on the outside unit and it is...

1) Replace both fuses if there are any out by the unit
*also make sure the breakers are not tripped. there will be two
2) if you get the unit running inspect the outdoor coil under the outside fins to see if the coil is stopped up with dirt, grass, etc.
*if the coil is dirty, disconnect the unit from power, take the 4 screws out on the top of the unit that hold the fan motor assembly in place. Carefully set the entire motor, blade and assembly off to the side and be careful not to pull the motor wires loose. With a water hose and sprayer, carefully wash the condenser coil from the inside out. You will see a lot of debris on the outside fins you will have to wash off. Be careful not to have so much water pressure that you bend the aluminum fins on the coil itself.
** many times if the coil is stopped up this will cause the unit to overheat and trip breakers

My apartment has a Ruud UAND-024-JAZ installed since 2006. It takes approximately 7 hours for it to reach the temperature the thermostat is set to (77) My landlord had a service personcome out and flush...

With out knowing where exactly you are and how many sq. ft. you are cooling it is impossible to tell if you are working properly or not...
The best way to tell would be for you to check the return air temperature and the supply air temperature. There should be at least a fifteen degree F difference.... if not then you have a problem...

Daily reset of outside unit

I have the same unit and was having the same problem. My brother works on A/C's and told me that the coils most likely needed cleaning from the inside out because when they are clogged with a lot of debris the system will overheat and cause that switch to trip and so far it has worked. What you need to do is turn the main breaker off to the outside unit first then take the four screws out of the top of the unit, use a flat head screwdriver and lift the fan it's self up out of the carefully taking caution of the wires going to the fan, then take the garden hose with a spray nozzle and wash the coils from the inside spraying through the coil to the outside and then wash the louvers off of all the debris and this should help.

Ruud air conditioner unit

sounds like you have a fan blade out of balance or one that is bent which when the unit winds down it becomes out of balance use a straight edge across the blades to see if any are bent.
