Question about Emerson EWL3706 37 in. LCD Television
Any lcd tv, or any tv for that matter, will have dozens or even hundreds of different capacitors in it. There are also a few different types of capacitors. LCD and plasma tv's have a problem w/ electrolytic capacitors failing, mainly on the power supply module, which cause problems such as no picture, dead set, it may go into shutdown after being on a while, or it may be slow to start up, etc. Almost all of the electrolytic caps will be puffed up on top or "domed" rather than be flat whenever they go bad on a plasma or lcd if it is a power supply problem. There would be too many to list unless someone had a service manual on it and could send you a copy of it. The first thing I do when servicing an lcd or plasma is look at the caps to make sure none of them are bulged on top. If they are then they need to be replaced. The value that you will need to get is written on the side of each cap.
As far as my records go, I don't have anything that mentions this set having a history of capacitor trouble. What is the set doing or not doing?
