Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop

1 Answer

We have a desktop computer at home with 2 users, my husband and me. Recently, my husband 'did something' and his user id will no longer allow him to access http:// addresses on the internet. He can access https"// addresses. My user id is not affected. I cannot find what he 'did' to correct this situation. Any ideas?

On your husband's account open Internet Explorer. In the upper right corner, click the arrow next to "Tools" and select "Internet Options". In the Internet Options box, click the "Advanced" tab. Under "Reset Internet Explorer settings" click the "reset" box. Then restart IE.

There are other things that can be wrong, but let's try this first.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

first I suggest you edit you post to delete your user names. These
should not be posted (for your own privacy). You need to log out your husband or any other user.
On the blue header bar of the Facebook page there are a series of icons to the right of "home" ...
Go to the icon on the end that looks like a down arrow.
Click it to reveal a drop-down menu with the "logout" option about 3/4 of the way down the list. Click "logout" and you'll log out the active user (your husband) and you will be taken to a fresh login screen page. Enter your User and Password info to log back into your account.

Administrator password to login not working

Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 7, and its predecessor, Vista, offer a new layer of security that is different from previous releases, such as XP or 2000.
The earlier Windows versions treated all users as system administrators by default. With Windows Vista and 7, all accounts are treated as limited users.
The User Account Control utility provides elevated permissions when required and prompts users for those permissions.
You can control UAC behavior in Windows 7 so it does not prompt you for these permissions.
Start your computer with Windows 7 and log in as you normally would. Your desktop should appear, and any background applications should be closed.
Click the Windows "Start" orb at the lower left corner of your screen.
Click your account picture at the top right of the menu.
You will be presented with a window that allows you to make changes to your user account.
Click the link that says "Change User Account Control Settings."

Look for the User Account Control options slider.
The default option of User Account Control is to notify you only when programs try to make changes to your computer or you install new programs.
The option directly below that does the same thing but does not dim your desktop.
The "Never Notify" option at the bottom of the list eliminates the prompts for permissions.
Move the slider to the bottom of the options window.
Click "OK."
You may be prompted one last time from User Account Control to confirm your settings and reboot your computer.
or
Log in as an Administrator on Windows 7
If you've recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, you're probably wondering how to log in as an administrator. In Windows XP, the administrator account was clearly visible from the log-on page, but it's no longer there in Windows 7.

Although there is an administrator account, it must first be enabled with the Windows command prompt before you're able to use it. Enabling the administrator account lets you troubleshoot problems with programs on your computer.

Click on the "Start" button, and then type "command" into the search bar.
Right-click "Command Prompt" when the results appear.
Click "Run as Administrator."
The command prompt opens.

Type "net user administrator /active:yes," excluding the quotation marks.
Hit "Enter."
Click "Start," and then click "Switch User." Click the "Administrator" icon to log in.

What will i do my computer always disconnected from the network

is it set up on a home network or is it an internet network ?
if people cant see your computer id say it was a home network

it might be a problem with the power and data leads either breaking down / faulty or bad connections

or it might be the firewall settings

Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.

This opens the Explorer window.

Navigate to the folder you wish to share.

Right-click the folder and select "Properties." Click the "Sharing" tab.

This is where you configure the folder for network sharing and set permissions for users to access the directory.

Click the "Share" button.

This opens a window with a list of users configured on the network.

Add the groups and users who are allowed to have access to the folder, by highlighting the name and clicking the "Add" button.

When you've added all the users, click the "Share" button.

Click the "Advanced Settings" button.

This opens a configuration window where you can give the folder name an alias.

This hides the real name of the folder and shows the alias to users when they browse the computer for open shares.

Type a friendly name into the textbox and press the "Ok" button.

Click "Ok" in the main share properties window.

The settings are saved and take effect immediately.

hope this helps

I can not login and the page will not load and email images will not download?

Microsoft have now dropped support for Windows XP, some users will no longer be able to login if they only have Service Pack 2, this is down to security upgrades that are not supported with this service pack.
In order to correct the problem you need to install Service Pack 3, as you can no longer do this through Windows/Microsoft Update you need to download it directly to your computer, use the link below to get SP3.

Easiest way is to add yourself as a user to the computer (Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Create a new account), then your software settings are retained in their own location on the computer as long as you select to log on as you and not your husband.

Changed network on husbands' work computer; locked out.

You can create a bootable Disk (CD or USB ) from this site to recover the password.:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

This is what I use, it has a 30 day trail. It has a program called Locksmith which enables you to change or delete the password on any user and admin account..

copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
