Question about Hotpoint VBXR1090B Top Load Washer
If the machine basically stops after the wash cycle, but prior to the rinse/spin cycle and won't do anything, yet when you move the timer into the rinse cycle it will fill with water as per normal, and again when it hits spin it stops.. then you have a bad lid switch, the lid switch can be accessed by sliding a putty knife between the top and front of the unit about 2 or 3 inches in from the corners and pushing in, there are hidden spring releases there that will allow you to pull the top of the front panel out, then lift if off its supports on the bottom, the top of the unit that has the lid switch can be raised by removing several screws from the brackets of the top. the part number for the lid switch is WH12X1043 $16 - $29..
good luck, have fun.
