The problem was in the power cord. I didn't have to disconnect the heat after all.

How do I replace the heating elembent in a frigidaire FRAM18ER2A ac/heating UNIT

This type of unit does not normally have a heating element, it is a heat pump. In summer if blows cold air through the front and hot air out of the vent at the back. In winter, cool air is drawn in through the back, heated by the compressor and vented out of the front vents.

The manual is here. It seems Frigidaire Service is the only answer.

Wiring diagram is here. The unmarked item, 2/3rds down on the left may be an element.

This intimates it has a 4000 watt to 4900 watt element depending on voltage supply.

Voltage Rating: 240V / 208V 60Hz
Amps (Cool): 8.4 / 9.2
Watts (Cool): 1900 / 1880
Amps (Heat): 22.2 / 20.0
Watts (Heat): 4900 / 4000
Horsepower (Cool): 2.49
Power Cord Length: 5' (6')
Plug Type: 6-30P

Despite my best searches I can't find anyone selling gthe element. Try these two companies though

I have the 5 day. 2 day programmable thermostat. Installed in the winter but now that it is summer air conditioner won't come on. Can you please advise?

You should always include model number in requests. More info is better. In general, there is a setting for Heat and cold on cheaper thermostats. Mine is like that. It works for heating in winter and you must switch it to "cool" for summer. I assume you do have an AC unit for summer. Who wired it up? was it ever working? Did it get installed during winter? The wiring may be wrong, there are a lot of possible ways to wire. If you are not good at that (and why would you be here if you were?) better get a tech to check it out. In the old days, Edison might send out a tech for free to advise (not fix) if there is a possibility of short (dangerous).

What does error code E56 mean?

That error is an E5b error. This indicates a problem with the heating element, the thermistor or the control board. You'll need to unplug the unit and access the wiring. Inspect the heating coil for breaks. Then test the voltage across the element (should see the line voltage) and check the resistance at the thermistor (should be ~50000 Ohms in a room temperature environment). If the above are okay, your control board is probably bad.

If you post a comment with the model number, I may be able to point you the appropriate parts. If your dryer is under warranty, contact Frigidaire.

I hope this helps.

How do you insulate a tankless water heater for winter

If you have tankless electric, it can simply be insulated... but tankless electric are seldom mounted outdoor.
Service bulletin says: "the only way of assuring protection is to completely remove the heater during those times the area may experience freezing temperatures.

There are tankless with built-in heater for exterior installation.
Check your manual, or add a comment with specific model number and maybe I can find the information.

Here's why they install tankless outdoors: Because tankless burn more fuel per gallon of hot water. This requires larger gas line and larger vent pipe than typical tank-type gas water heater that is usually installed indoors.
They install tankless outdoors, so there is no need for expensive vent pipe, and because there is ample incoming air to support combustion.
So if tankless does not have factory-installed internal heater, then the unit can freeze easily when the combustion draws in cold air.
Of course you can put heat-tapes on the pipes but the heat exchanger inside will quickly freeze during periods when hot water is not being used, and combustion is not taking place.

You can move the tankless installation inside and use correctly-sized vent and intake pipes directly through the wall. This will generally protect tanklesss from freezing if room is heated adequately.

My heater on 1998 Achieva is still blowing cold air after 3 thermostats and 3 different mechanics. Help! I'm going broke!

Ok, I have been in your situation. Locate the Coolant line from the radiator to the firewall, there are actually 2. One has a valve type device on it. Remove that device and replace it with a piece of straight pipe. Locate your AC compressor. Disconnect the Wires to the Compressor so it can not activate when you select defrost. During the Winter you want the heat and should not need the AC side or your system anyway. This should fix you up for the rest of the winter, in the spring re-install the valve and reconnect the AC. Also, make sure you plug any vacum lines taht are connected to that valve on teh radiator line.

Cool air not working with honeywell Model # RTH230B

Do you have a heat pump? If so, not compatible. What i did was move the jumper on the thermostat (RH RE). This is on the inside of the thermostat - NOT the red jumper!!! and got the AC working (the heat had already worked during the winter, problem only became apparent when I needed to use AC). I may have to change the jumper again when the season changes...not sure yet.
