Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Internal speakers do not work at all, external headphone output jack works fine so drivers are working. I really don't think that both speakers would just quit (Model # L355) so is it possibly the MB?

My dell latitude d510 internal spk is ready but output headfone jek not working

these are fairly passive in that if a headphone or earpiece is plugged in, they switch the output from the internal speaker to the external speaker. So, it's usually one of a few problems.
  • The jack is mucked up, and needs replaced.
  • The headphone plug wires have a broken connection
  • The headphone needs power to amplify, and that's not working.
If trying another headphone or earpiece you know is working doesn't work, it's the jack itself. They can only handle so many uses before they either fail closed, or open or completely. Depending on which one, either:
  • neither speakers nor headphones work.
  • only speakers work
  • only headphones work
Replacement necessitates opening the case and replacing the jack. For that, there's no help.

Internal speakers are disabeled. Extearnal speakers work just fine

Headphone jack may be faulty as there is a contact that tells the uProcessor that the socket is in use and turns the internal speakers off. If the contacts are tarnished, they might not be opperating correcty.

IMac G5 17" no sound from internal speakers and no start up gong,, OK on external speakers and headset

The first thing you should try is to hold down the keys command-option-P-R as you power up the system. That should reset the PRAM in case there is any funny muting information stuck in there. If you hear your optical drive reset more than twice and there is still no chime sounding, let go of the keys because that's not the problem.
Go to System Preferences / Sound. Choose the Output tab. It should say something like "Internal speakers, built-in." When you plug in headphones, it should switch to saying something like "Headphones, Headphone port." If (as I suspect) the output is stuck on "Headphones, Headphone port" whether the headphones are in or out, the problem is most probably a very simple mechanical problem. There is a "shorting strip" in the output jack that makes an electrical connection back to the speakers when a plug is removed, and it may be dirty, bent, or broken off. If it's not broken, it's possible to clean it and/or move it back into position with really fine gauge tools and a steady hand. If it's broken off, you're out of luck unless you want to solder a new jack onto the motherboard (I wouldn't recommend it).

Dv6000 no sound from internal speakers

If the stereo jack works, then there is no problem with the sound card or its drivers. Your speakers have played their last, most likely some internal wiring broken as speakers themselves rarely just quit.

Headphone jack not working

Hi,

I find that there is a problem with your headphone speaker.
Try with some other headphone, even if it is not working, then you need to take it to the service center.

Cheers,

Hi plz help me i am using IBM r51 laptop which has all drivers but not able to get sound of it. but when i connect a headphone i can get sound of it. but my laptops speakers r working as i tested mt...

ibm sound card is not faulty, because you are getting sound with your head phone. The head phone jack have two functions 1. to give output to head phone 2. to disconnect internal speakers when you plug in head phone.
The jack for headphone in normal position not give connectivity to internal speakers.
SOLUTION : REPLACE THE HEADPHONE JACK.
I think it will help you.

Built in speakers not working

Are you using external speakers? or internal?

EXTERNAL SPEAKERS: If your are plugging speakers into your headphone jack and they dont play, but you plug headphones into the same port and they work fine.. then it is the external speakers.

INTERNAL SPEAKERS: But if you are using the speakers in the laptop, then your speakers are probably bad. Try some software settings, but probly just bad speakers. Could also be that the speaker cord inside the laptop came unplugged from the motherboard. In which case you would have to take the laptop apart and plug it back into the motherboard.

Good Luck.

No sound from external speakers with toshiba dynadock

if using XP, go to start control panel , sound and audio devices.Under the audio tab make sure the C Media CM106 sound device is selected under sound playback. Then under the volume tab set the volume somewhere in the middle or at the top if you don;t have active speakers . Then Under Speaker settings advanced, make sure the speaker setup is set to Laptop Stereo speakers. Also make sure the speaker volumes are up on the speaker volume button. click ok. If no result check that the cm106 sound decvice was cemented in as I saw it dissaper when I thought i had slected it. I think the key thing here is the device and the laptop speakers setting.

Speakers port not working properly...

It must be a hardware problem it can't be the driver which is software. If I were u i would have had a look inside the pc at the jack or ask toshiba for a repair/replace if in warranty but i think it's more likely the jack ur intrested in.Try putting a drop of water when inserting the jack(don't be affraid nothing can happen) and rotate it a bit and see if it comes only in the external device. This worked for me I hope it did for u.
