Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV
Have been fighting a dark screen almos impossible to see dark scenes
i found this from another person
the mirror has dust on it easy fix
remove front of screen by removing screws around the top and sides of the back don't forget to pop off the bottom cover in the front it just pulls off
then remove center cover screws
i could not disconnect the front electrical plug but it has enough slack to lift and then tip the front screen down to the floor
it will be obvious on the mirrors there is a big one it wasn't to dirty
lean in and look down there is a small mirror and lens they were filthy
there is a piece of foam trying to keep the dust out it was sucked backed so dust could get in
clean with windex and paper towels cloth didn't work

Is it dark even with the menu settings up high? Is it dark even in the menu settings? It could either be a dark signal input OR Dim light source. Depending on model, if it's LCD or DLP based, you probably need a new bulb. If it's CRT based, you can bring them back to life with a simple adjustment. If it's a CRT (depending on model) the adjustment is either on the back, or on the front behind the covers. There then will be a plastic adjusting screw. BE CAREFUL, there is high voltage back there. You want the TV on and with the menu settings of brightness and contrast all the way up for this part. With a second person there to help spot (if controls are on the back) bring the screen adjustment screw slowly up. Depending again on model, their might be one, their might be three that say screen. Adjust them up until a little brighter then desired but not past the horizontal retrace lines. Lot of information, but really it's an easy fix to get a few more years out of any tube tv that's worn and keep them out of the landfills.
