Question about HP w2207 Monitor

1 Answer

I lost the color blue. Is that a monitor problem, driver problem, or some kind of graphics software problem? And, how do I fix it? This occurred after I unplugged and moved the computer into another room. I've tried to adjust the color but blue does not change or adjust at all.

It may just be the cable, or the connector that attaches to the monitor or pc.
This monitor also had a similar problem, it was connected with a dvi to vga adaptor on another computer. I plugged it straight into the vga socket on this computer and it works fine.
If that is no help, you may need a new monitor

If 2 monitors are showing the same picture, your graphics card is at fault.

First, Click on my computer - device manager - check there are no alarms shown by the devices in your pc especially the graphics card.

If none, RMB click on your graphics card, select properties and choose the "Roll back Driver" option.

Second, look on the Gateway website, follow links for support/downloads check that you have the latest driver for your graphics card. Also note the make, model and type of your graphics card. You'll need these if it has to be replaced.

If both have been completed, then your graphics card probably needs replacing. I'd try ebay first for a good second hand. You could take this opportunity to upgrade, just make sure you buy on with the correct interface.

I CAN'T READ THE BLUE TEXT IN MY E MAILS

If Blue colors display properly in pictures or graphics check the display and size settings of your computer in relation to the size monitor.

If there is a problem with the blue color because of a problem with the monitor you might be able to compensate for it either with controls on the monitor or with the control software of your video card.

1 port works for a short while and the other has lost all red

Have you checked in your control panel wether extended desktop is actually enabled on the second monitor? If it is, then maybe you have set the resolution too high. Try lowering it. If that doesn't help either, please post back here.
For the one without the red, first check all your color settings, then reinstall the graphics driver, and if that doesn't help, try replacing the vga cable, monitor or graphics card with another one.
If that doesn't fix it either, you'll have to post the results back here.

I hope this

Gateway GT5058 Geforce 6100 lost red

yes.. Check to make sure your wires are in good working order, check for loose pins, and make sure there aren't any kinks / tears / breaks in the shielding for the monitor cable.

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, and that someone hasn't tampered with any color settings on the monitor / graphics setting software (nVidia allows me to adjust color for each individual color... i.e. red, green, blue.. )

Also, i have seen times where KVM's have caused the color to be off. even after removing the monitor from the KVM and testing a new monitor on the KVM, after detaching the KVM, and allowing it to reset (1 minute no power) then reconnecting it with all 4 PC's turned off, the issue went away.

To Recap:
1) Make sure monitor settings are at factory default
2) test the monitor on another PC, if good step 3
3) test different monitor on affected PC, if good, step 4
4) be sure your software settings work for your monitor, and all cables are secure, and free of defects such as kinks, broken shielding, broken wires within the shielding, missing / bent / broken / loose coonector pins.

If all abouve test show the monitor is good on one PC, and bad on another, replace your graphics card to see if this solves the problem, if so, your card may be faulty

Cannot reset defaults for HP color monitor. No reds, just garrish

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
