Hi there

Make sure you put your computer to sleep by shutting down the display of your PowerBook before connecting the monitor

Make sure you hook the monitor cable up to your PowerBook through the PowerBook's Ethernet monitor port with a standard Ethernet cable

If you are still experiencing the problem then the monitor is probably faulty and you need to return it to where you bought it so it can be changed for you.

My LCD powerbook G4 has a white vertical line

This is usually symptomatic of a chafed or pinched LVDS cable, especially if the line comes and goes as you work the hinges. This not a user-replaceable part. If the line does not flicker when the hinges are moved, there is a possibility that your LCD screen itself has gone bad.

How do I connect to the internet via WIFI with a MAC Powerbook G3 laptop?

The easiest way if your Powerbook doesn't come equipped with an Airport card or isn't capable of supporting an Airport card is to purchase this http://www.sonnettech.com/product/aria_extreme.html it slides into the PCMIA slot on your Powerbook G3 (the credit card sized slot on the side of your Powerbook G3). There's support issues and model variations on older Powerbook G3's regarding Airport Card support and they're not as readily available as a standard PCMIA wireless card. This is my best suggestion for your situation.

No, because that model printer is just rubbish. Throw the thing out and purchase a laser Brother HL-2170 and it will work just splendid with the Apple PowerBook G4.

White flash/flicker on Powerbook G4 LCD monitor

There might be an internal device in your computer that is causing this, I have a 4 year old G4 myself, and a defect right hand side light sensor both caused purple stripes on the screen and made it go to sleep mode every time left hand side light sensor was covered.
You could run a hardware test on it: http://www.info.apple.com/support/aht.html
Maybe you could try to deactivate the light sensors in System Preferences?
These are more suggestions than a solution, but maybe you could start there. Good luck, I hope you get it solved!

A few tries, go to the apple in the top left and choose SYSTEM PREFERENCES....it should bring you to:

f002663.png

In the HARDWARE row you should see DISPLAYS. Select that and you will be at:
0ceaf58.png

You have the DETECT DISPLAYS button, and also CLICK the "Show displays in menu bar" box, so you dont have to keep going through menus to configure.

If you look at the F7 key, to the right of the NUM LOCK key (F6), that key allows you to switch from expanded to mirroring or vice versa.

You can also check Apple's Knowledge base....

Keep me posted.
