Question about RCA Computers & Internet

Open Question

Cable Provider installed your RCA Model\Router DWG855T. This product is new and Cable Povider has very little knowledge regarding this Product. My question, before disconnecting my previous Modem and Wireless Router...we perform a Speed test. Results 28.5MBdn....1.8MBup...which is inline with my level of service. After the RCA Modem was connected we performed another Speed test from the Exact same Speed test site....the 2 tests were only minutes apart...the results with the RCA Modem.....10.5dn and 1.2up. We are using a Wired Desktop to perform the Speed tests. The tech connected another DWG855T...and the speeds were the same as with the 1st RCA Model. What would cause this? Suggestions? Also the Modems clock...time is not correct; date is correct.....Under NETWORK\TIME "SNTP" is marked NO. That is apparently the factory default setting? Should I click YES? Please do not share\seel or loan this email to any source, it is provided for the sole use to reply to this inquiry. Thank You

SOURCE: Vista/router/wireless connection

Make sure that all the wireless cards are set in the properties to obtain an ip address automatically, dissable the wired lan adpter connections as this can confuse the router. Restart all the pc's and then right click on the wireless pc icon in your task bar and then click view wireless networks and make sure that you are connected to your network and that the internet is available, known as local & internet in Vista. open up internet explorer, go to tools, internet options and delete browsing history cookies and temp files and then refresh the page as the proxy server will need to refresh.

I want to replace RCA DCM425 cable modem with new, compatible device to continue feeding internet (by ethernet cable) to my desktop (like the present) and provide new WiFi to the home. Please advise. Thank...

You have two choices to achieve your goal (which I understand is to have both you desktop plugged by Ethernet and WiFi throughout your home) :

1. The cheapest way :
You need not be replacing your cable modem, but adding a router to it. There are numerous routers which are WiFi enabled. You can then plug your PC to the router and have WiFi.

2. The cleanest (but less cheap) way :
There are cable modems on the market which will do the job, like the Motorola SURFboard SBG900 DOCSIS 2.0 Wireless Cable Modem. Once plugged in place of your old modem, depending on your provider, you will either have to download and install the software for your new modem (which should be prompted on your PC when you try to access the Internet), or call the provider to activate the new modem.

I have the DCM425 RCA Modem and I'd like to use it with another internet provider but I don't know how to get it connected. Can you help?

You should have no problem using the modem with another internet provider as the modem is a cable modem and not a ADSL modem.
Make sure that your new ISP (internet service provider) is supplied by a cable company and not one that comes through the telephone line as the modem will not work if that is the case.
Once you have cable installed its as simple as connecting all the leads like the coaxial lead and the Ethernet lead. turn it on and you should be good to go after about 2 minutes.

Click on the link below for an on-line PDF operators manual for the RCA modem which will tell you exactly how to install the modem.

Hi, How are you? I'm trying to uninstall my Belkin N Wireless Router Model no F5D8233-4v3. Belkins website is not helpful with that information. I can't find any of the software. The product manual doesn't...

To uninstall the router, just disconnect it from your Cable Modem. It has no software.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

to re-install:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

Which mobel router MC68EN360EM25C

I would be searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base for this answer. But 1st, I would look on the Motorola website for the answer.

NOTE: If the Router is physically connected to the Server (PC), via an Ethernet cable and you want to set it up, then

1. Check the manual for the IP No. of the Router (i,e., and then type into your Browsers navigation field (http://).

1. Search Motorola's website for the IP No. for the Router model :
1.1 Navigate to
1.2 Select where you want to go, for Consumers OR for Business
1.3 Click Support.
1.4 Click the Get Product Manuals link, from the Business Support section.
1.5 Type the Product description into the Search field. Press <Go>.
1.6 Download the product Manual and open it.
1.7 Find the area in the Manual where it tells you the IP No. of the Modem (to access the Modems Settings).

2. Then type it into your Browsers navigation field (http://).

This connects you to the Setup / Installation menu of the Modem Router itself and enables you to configure it's settings. Generally, you are able to access help from within this area.

I hope this helps. Regards,

C5180 all in one is not connecting via ethernet.

Before you begin: Check requirements Make sure you have the following items:
  • One of the following types of wired access points or routers: Ethernet router, switch, hub, or wireless router with Ethernet ports
  • A computer that connects to the wired access point or router
  • A Category 5 Ethernet cable to use for the HP product. (Do not use a standard telephone cable.) Figure 2: Cable comparisonc01710115.gif 1 - Ethernet cable 2 - Telephone cable (do not use) Although an Ethernet cable looks similar to standard telephone cable, each has a different plug and a different number of wires. The plug on an Ethernet cable (also called an RJ-45 connector) is wide, thick, and always has eight wires. The plug on a telephone cable is narrower and has between two and six wires.
Are you changing from USB connection to Ethernet connection? If you previously installed the software for a USB connection and now want to change to an Ethernet connection, follow these instructions to remove the USB installation before continuing.
  1. Click Start , click Printers and Faxes , and then right-click the icon for HP product.
  2. Click Delete to remove the product.
  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the product and the computer.
Step one: Connect the HP All-in-One to the network
  1. Remove any plug or protective cover from the Ethernet port on the back of the product. Figure 3: Remove plugc01710117.gif
  2. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the product, and then connect the other end of the cable to an available port on the wired access point or router. Figure 4: Connect the Ethernet cablec01710118.gif
  3. Connect the power cord to the product, and then plug it into an electrical outlet.
  4. Turn the product on.
Step two: Decide whether to install with the product CD or download the software Don’t worry if you don’t have the product CD! You can download the most current software available for your product from the HP Web site at no cost. The following information might help you decide which installation method to use:
CD Download For a new product: CD installation is a quick and easy method. If you do not have a CD, you can download the software you need. For an older product: CD installation might not work if you are installing the product on a computer running a newer operating system that released AFTER the HP product released. Downloading the software provides the best results for your older product. Even though it takes more time than using the CD, downloading the latest software can help you avoid installation issues.

Downloading is the recommended method if your computer operating system released after the HP product released. About the software: The software on the CD is current to the date of the product release. The software that you can download from the HP Web site is the most current software available for your product. HP often updates software and drivers AFTER the product and CD release to the market.Step three: Install the software

New modem will not work with my Belkin F5D7230-4 router

I would start by re-setting the modem. Disconnect the power for the router and modem. Wait a minute or two. Plug the modem back in first. Wait for the modem to complete communication with your internet service provider. When all communication lights are good on the modem then plug the power into the router. It amy take a few minutes to get all the lights. Hopefully this will allow the DHCP to release from the old router and renew to the new one. Make sure if your internet provider requires any manual configurations that they are properly configured in the new router.

I can't get internet signal after i connect my new router to my modem

Make sure it's plugged into the right port in the back of the router. If you are runing a cable modem, try holding down on the reset button in the back of the router for a few seconds. See if that will work.

If you are using DSL, there may be some settings that your povider can give you to put into the connections settings on your router.
