Sanyo Vizon 42" Plasma DP42746 Was using tv when I heard a click and I lost all audio and video, could not change the channel or adjust volume. Tried unplugging and sitting for 10 minutes. Plugged back in, I sometimes hear the click on hitting power, light comes on then it clicks again. Powerlight stays on, no audio or video. Sometimes I hear no click but power light stays on, no audio or video.

This is a common problem with these TVs. You can download the official Sanyo repair manual for this TV (DP42746) at http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/43343/sanyo_dp42746.html. I uploaded it here when I had the same issue with my TV last year. The solution is almost always to replace the Power Board (Y-Main) and the Upper and Lower Y Buffers. The parts and costs (from Sanyo in July 2009) are listed below (NOTE: Sanyo will not ship these parts to anyone but a repair shop): 1. V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01200A, Alt Part # LJ41-02759A) - USD $139.00
2. Upper Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01202A, Alt Part # LJ41-02760) - USD $64.00
3. Lower Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01203A, Alt Part # LJ41-02761A) - USD $64.00
Sanyo charges USD $10.50 for shipping, which brings the total cost for parts to USD $277.50. From my research, a shop would probably charge between USD $500 and $700 to do this repair. FYI - there is a class action lawsuit pending against Sanyo for this issue. The V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Boards fail VERY frequently in this TV due to overheating. Hope this helps.

I took this advice and switched out my Y main board and my Buffer board for my Sanyo. After replacing the 2 boards, the tv comes on with static, and no sound. Is there a factory reset to get the tv working with the correct parts? It was a blank screen with "No input" on it (how it should be) for about 3 seconds before it cut back out. Please help!

The best way is to replace all 3 boards at the same time. You replaced just one y-buffer board, probably second one still had a problem and now y-main is bad again.

When I was on the phone with a Sanyo customer service rep, I provided my tv serial number (not just the model number, she said models can vary) and was informed my TV only has One Y-buffer board, cost $120. Even the TV repair shop said I only had to replace the Y-main and the Y-buffer.

It sounds like your Y Sustain panel has gone out. Locating the part and the price might put you at the 50% category in which a new set at that point would be in order..

No video but audio is fine on Sanyo 42" DP42746 TV

If you unplugged the Ysus board, then you need to replace the Ysus board, or both sustain boards. This is the part: The part is often available on Ebay, or from manufacturer. Look also at Vance baldwin or Partstore. To do a good job the Sustain boards should be tested by a tech , following service manual. It is almost for sure sustain board by the way.
