Select the input channel for your Fire TV - Turn on your TV and select the input channel for the HDMI port you used to connect your Fire TV. You should then see a loading screen with the Amazon Fire TV logo 4.

You will need an HDMI cable. Connect the laptop to the television and on the television, you will need to change the "Source Input" setting. Select the HDMI setting on the television and everything that you see on your laptop will appear on the television.

I have a nvidia geforce 9500 GT graphics card it has two dvi ports and a s video out i plugged a s video cable in it that has a female connecting end on the other end and u can plug the red and blue and...

It is because when the operating system starts it switches to the resolution, color depth and refresh rate set in the OS. One or more of these settings is not compatible with the TV.
Read your TV manual carefully and find what it supports.
Connect only a computer monitor to your computer, set it to the display settings supported by the TV and shut down.
Connect the computer to your TV, cross you fingers and turn it on.

Good luck!

I have a 47 inch phillips hdtv and a hp elite cpu the hp eliute has a blue ray player there hooked up though a hdmi cord the tv starts up windows and shows safemode but when it goes to the password screen...

tv starts up windows and shows safe-mode. That right there is your problem, windows defaults the monitor down to regular 640 mode. I will cut out the hdmi since that is not a monitor. Safe-mode is used to trouble shoot your computer and it loads just barely the drivers you need to see and work with the computer. You will have to get the computer to boot up normally then proceed from there, also you will have to set up your video card to output hdmi.

Getting out of the initial set up

First try to Boot to Last Known Good Configuration.. do this by pressing F8 upon bootup...look at the prompt screen for the option mentioned OR

Attempt to boot up in Safe Mode....
Do This by pressing F8 Upon bootup, it will take you to a black Safe Mode Options screen... once there choose the first option.. boot into Safe Mode Only.. If you are able to boot into windows that way,, you can then check for problems... Like checking the device manager for errors, Check the Status of your hard drive.. etc.
