Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a NEC Mutisync LCD 2070NX monitor & the On-Off switch is "loose" making it difficult to turn the monitor off & on. Where can I go to get it fixed or would the cost of the repair be too great & I should get a new monitor-it's 3-4 years old. Thanks

It should be possible to take the cover off and fix your self with some contact adhesive like no more nails (etc) as the switch itself does not appear faulty this should work fine..

It won't turn on -

hi there, it sounds like your monitor isn't receiving power, check the power cable in your monitor is connected and not partially unplugged. Second, if that doesn't work, try looking at your plug and make sure that is plugged in. If that doesn't work, you may have to buy a new monitor or give it to a friend that can repair it.

My moniter has completely stoped working. It at first was fading out for after a few minutes. I could turn it off and back on again to make it work but now it just is black

Good day sir/maam, hi, it seems that your monitor's power supply is slowly loosing power, this may be cause by parts inside to fail slowly, this may be resistors and capacitors, or a slow blow fuse, and a faulty switching regulator IC, then stops. Servicing LCDs are quite difficult, you need to bring it to your dealer for proper advice on your LCD.

try playing around with the connectors in the back of the monitor. It might be a loose connection. Another thing to probably do is to try and turn off the monitor and then turn it back on.

The power supply section may be failed, or there may be a short on one of the boards causing the monitor to cycle through the protect mode.

Hmmm, seen this one before, did you recently clean the screen with some kind of liquid cleaner/spray? I had to repair a monitor with same problems, some fluid had leaked onto the switch board....If not, any key's stuck or pressed in too hard?

You have an intermittent problem. That means a component is going bad in all probability. If it was a capacitor that burned up you would not have any picture. Your problem requires a schematic plus an tester. You would need to check values for all components. If you have not done this (and assuming you can follow an electrical schematic) and if new to diagnosing these types of problems plan on spending many hours at the task. The question you need to ask yourself perhaps is is it worth it.....particularly since even if you find the problem it may require ordering parts...and you might need some basic soldering skills, etc.....If it was me...I would probably either send it in for repair (deifnitely if under warranty) or buy another.
