My kit lenses, Canon 18-55mm stopped going till F/3.5, even using it in 18mm. Now the mininum it goes is F/5. Any solution for that?

If you are focusing very close that may be a consideration. But if it does not change at any focal length, and focal distance then it will need to be repaired. Or, try KEH.com for excellent quality used lenses. That lens can be replaced to the same or less than a repair.

What is 55-200mm?

That's the focal range of a zoom lens. Unlike a single focal-length lens (or a "prime" lens) a zoom lens lets you adjust the focal range. "55-200mm" specifies the lens's focal range from 55mm at the low end to 200mm at the long end.

You can read a general description of zoom lenses at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoom_lens

Nikon current has two different 55-200mm lenses:

If you're asking about the L110, it has a permanently-affixed lens and will not use either of the above lenses.

Lens will not change aperture setting.. it's stuck on F4. Should be able to change to F2.8 Michael

You'll notice that the maximum aperture is specified as f/2.8-4.0. The lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 only at the 17mm focal length. At the 35mm focal length, the maximum aperture is f/4.

Does the lens open up to f/2.8 when you zoom out to 17mm?

Hi, I have the finepix s9600 and was wondering if the zoom lense could be changed on it for a higher zoom?? if so what would you recommend

The S9600 camera is a fixed lens camera and the lens ca not be changed not like a DSLR with interchangeable lenses. Your camera has the equivalent of 28 to 300mm focal length which is pretty respectable. One thing you could do is purchase an adapter but the quality of your pictures will suffer. Going to a full DSLR with the focal length you have now wouldn't be to cheap either.

My sigma 105 lens do not go to f2.8. it reaches only f3. tanx. macario sakay

If this is the Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8-4.0 as in the title, then the maximum aperture will vary with the focal length. It is probably only 2.8 when the focal length is zoomed to 28mm. It will be 4 at 105mm, and at focal lengths in between it will be in between.

What size lens fits a Minolta Maxxum 3xi??

It depends entirely upon what you're after and the type of photography you wish to undertake.

Any Minolta AF mount lens will fit. 28mm is a standard wide angle, 50mm is a standard lens with a field of view approximately the same as the human eye, 80mm is a slight telephoto and for distant subjects 200mm is a long telephoto. Some lenses combine a few into one, they're called zoom lenses and will typically be something like 35-70mm, or 70-200mm. The measurements relate to the focal length of the lens, but generally the larger the number the longer the lens sticks out at the front. Zoom lenses are bulkier and heavier than fixed focal length lenses, but they're also the most commonly used types these days.

ROKINON AUTO ZOOM Macro--- HELP to enable macro

Some of the Rokinon (and other ) zoom lenses could only go into MACRO at certain focal lengths- the lens you have "zooms" from 80 to 200 focal length, but is that done by "sliding" a ring forward and back on the lens, or by twisting a different ring that the one that focuses?

35mm Pantex Camera model # ME

That's the focal length of the lens. If there're two numbers, then the lens is either a zoom or a "vari-focal" lens, meaning the lens can change focal length from one end to the other. In this case, the lens can change its focal length from 150mm to 750mm, either by turning a ring or pushing/pulling a ring.

BTW I wasn't aware Pentax had a zoom that long. Are you sure it's not 75-150?

No, the wide angle and telephoto extension lenses are specifically designed only to extend the focal length of the existing E-10/20N lens. Their specific purpose is to be a fixed focal length.
