Question about Fiskars Brands Fiskars Hedge Shear

Open Question

I have a Wallace hedge trimmer by Fiskars. It is a Power Lever model 10HS. The pin that holds the blade and power flange together has come out and was lost. Do you have another or what can be used as a substitute? The head must be flush with the blade so that it clears the other blade when it is being used.It looks as if the hole in the blade is made to hold a bolt, rivet or other part in a recessed hole. The part on the other blade looks as if it might be a press fit into the two parts.

Check that the bolts or screws holding the two blades together aren't too tight preventing the blades sliding. Lubricate the blades also with WD40.

Engine runs great, accelerator responds perfectly, but the blades stopped moving. Any ideas?

Ensure blades are sharpened. If there are burs on blades they can seize.
Blades should be lubricated with WD40 , waste oil or other lubricant.
The bolts holding the two blades together shouldn't be too tight.

I cannot seem to close the hedge trimmer again: i.e., the tips of the two blades do not come together again. How can I solve this?

Evidently there is a burr/dent along one or both of the blades that is causing it not to close all the way. Just take a fine metal hand file and lightly file the area of the dented blade on the bottom of each blade, the sides of the blades that face each other. When you do one blade, just flip the trimmer over and do the other blade the same way. That should eliminate the problem and let the blades close all the way again.

I have a 22inch Craftsman Hedge Trimmer, Model No. 315.81591. When trimming a hedge near a chain-link fence, one of the steel links from the fence got caught between the blade guard and the cutter blade. ...

The likely issue is the gear pin has been sheared. The part is no longer available from Craftsman. (P/N from sears: 616255-001)

I had a similar issue with a similar electric trimmer. I removed the old pin and used a split pin and ground it down to the proper size. It's now worked for about 2 years just fine. This requires complete dis-assembly.

I wish to know if I can purchase new blades for my hedge trimmer model number 900.799740 . Can I replace blade with 22 inch or longer size? Can original blade be sharpened? What new model is compatable?

Go to www.partsdirect.com, this is sears website for parts. You should be able to find the part number for a new blade.
If the blade has bolts and nuts holding the blade together it can be sharpened. If it is riveted together, it can be but it is more work than what it is worth.

Hedge trimmer not cutting

Try getting the blades sharpened. Also have them checked to see if they are tight together, sort of like a pair of scissors. If the screws holding the blades together are sloppy the blades can't cut.
