The dvd unit on your machine either has failed or the button mechanism used for ejecting discs is off track or broken. Unless you are prepared to open the xbox a little bit, call support for the 3-year run around madness or trade it in at Gamestop towards the purchase of a Wii or PS3. I chose choice 2.

could be that you have your avi cable set to hd mode and play it on a reg tv. or the cable could be bad it self. some times the blinking light is trying to tell you that its not getting the proper signle

My orange light on the power supply keeps blinking and my xbox wont turn on

This could be a power fault on your 360 motherboard, but could simply be the power unit, I'd test it with another PSU (power supply) and see if it works, if so then it's your own PSU. if your PSU is also clogged with dust it can overheat and also start blinking to warn you that it need opened and cleaned.

The power light blinks, reads open tray/close tray . . .

it sounds like your dvd drive is dead if its still under warranty you should just send it back to microsoft the only other thing you could do is buy a replacement dvd drive and put it in yourself but only do that if microsoft wont take it or you'll void your warranty

Re: Blinking green light/won't detect disk drive

If you still have a warrenty sticker call up Microsoft and tell them that your Xbox 360 has overheated, and tell them your serial code. They will tell you if your warrenty is expired, if it's not they will ask you where you live then pick up your Xbox 360 and fix it for free. If your warrenty has expired try this. Power off the Xbox 360 and when it is off press the eject button, it might open they tray. Or try opening your Xbox 360 and remove the disk drives cables from the disk drive and the motherboard and put it back together, you should never try the towel trick really, although it works it can also give your Xbox 360 3 red lights then you have to buy X-clamps and theormo paste, just do the X-clamps and theormo paste when you get one red light. I have had two Xbox 360's, when I did the towel trick it burnt the GPU, the other one a little componante came loose, sorry for my spelling. Hope this helps =D

My Tray Door popped open after two red lights shut down console and won't close!

Here is a great page that has a step by step process for opening your unit. (they also sell parts and mod equipment)

http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox-360-Disassembly.htm

You may need a new drive, but I doubt it. After you get the Xbox open, peel off the silver tape thats on the bottom front of the DVD player, unplug the 2 connections, and lift it out. Turn the player upside down and remove the 4 screws, flip it back over and make sure that the try is lined up correctly with the mechinism.

I hope this helps. Good luck and happy gaming!!
